I know people were down on him, but he definitely fits the prototype of wings Connelly is assembling.

I commented recently that we could flip him for a different asset, but keeping that in mind, he's probably one of those "more valuable to us than you" guys.

Bold move bringing in a bunch of mediocre shooters and then trading the team’s best shooter.

Yeah, I wouldn’t be shocked if 2-3 of the guys are in the NBA eventually.

Miller for absolute certain. Garza and Clark likely.

I'm going to be curious to see how many games Garza actually plays in Iowa. He is limited in how many games he's active for the NBA club, but that doesn't necessarily mean he will be suiting up for Iowa in the other games. Garza dominated the G-League last year, so I'm not sure how much benefit he would get from returning. That said, it would be really fun to see him sharing the court with Miller as I think that might make Iowa the best team in the G-League.

If Garza dominated last year, then why were the Iowa Wolves so bad?

Maybe because Garza only played in 6 regular season G-League games?

That would be a big part of it.

Having many good NBA prospects in the G League pool doesn't necessarily equate to team success. Oftentimes, guys are trying to showcase their skills and not trying to sacrifice for the betterment of team goals. It's a very "individual" league. It might be why a role player like Matt Ryan had more success carving out a role in the NBA, because it was a role like he had in the G. He didn't dominate down there, averaging just 12 ppg in 24 mpg. His 3-point shooting is what interested teams.

It's why I'd caution people to not get overexcited about guys like Miller and Minott. They won't have the same roles for the Timberwolves as they had in the G League. So don't necessarily get caught up with the fancy highlights or flashy dunks.

If we can't get excited about wonderful G-league talent, what can we get excited about??

Wolves G-League team plays tomorrow. The team should be pretty good based on the guys currently in Iowa. It looks like Moore, Miller, and Garza are roster guys that will be playing (no Minott or Nix). Other interesting players include Krejci, Keels, Martin, Carton, Yat, and Cooke. That is probably more talent than I can remember on an Iowa Wolves team.

Bowen and Wheeler are also very talented guys. Even Michael Durr has a small piece of my interest.

Sounds like a euphemism.
