Yeah I'm pretty sure the Raps could've got something for a guy who made the All-Star team the year before
in the prime of his career if they were pro-active and tried trading him the year before.

Uh a top 10 player would indeed change a lot and at the very least solidify them as a top 5 team in the East. Now they might be worst and give up a top 10 pick to the Spurs to do what exactly?

Well then why did we trade (an extremely lightly protected) for pick for Poeltl if we're barely gonna be a play-in team with him? I don't mind not trading for Dame if we committed to a rebuild but we're still trying to do both and kick the can down the line. We have 3 FAs looming. I just don't see the point of even getting Yak and keeping Siakam long term if we're not trying to win right now.

This a pretty horrible trade for Phoenix isn’t it?
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

That’s my going theory. There is no way our package wasn’t better than this.

And it's the most logical explanation. Middleton (pre-injury form) is comparable to someone like McCollum – who was Dame's best teammate over the past 8 years – and then there's obviously a legitimate MVP candidate in Giannis as his running mate.

I would have loved for us to get Dame and I think/thought we had the pieces to put together a really good offer, but it seems pretty clear that Portland wanted to just do right by Dame and recoup a few assets.

This trade is pretty terrible lol. The Raptors could have offered C packages that was better?

so there you go, we already traded our pick for next year which sucks. If we trade even more and not win, its going to be worst

I just wanted a rebuild! Masai wants 9th seed and losing all impending FA for nothing.

I agree we should've traded FVV. However, we could've beat this offer anyway. Bucks traded 1 FRP, 2 FRP swaps, and Jrue (a very good player but salary ballast in the context of this deal). If we offered the same package of picks + OG + Dick + salary ballast we would've beaten the Bucks offer.

Either we decided not to pay the Blazers' asking price or Dame chose not to come here.

If you have extra assets from a Fred trade it makes it easier to trade for Dame or any other star player
and still have some wiggle room to fix the rest of the roster.

The reported "assets" for a Fred trade were Grayson Allen and a 2nd round pick or Kennard and a 2nd round pick...then we don't have Schroder.

This is a great trade for Milwaukee. Dame is a scoring stud but more of a secondary piece and Giannis will be that primary guy who Dame will play off of.

This is essentially the championship caliber version of a potential fake championship Siakam/Dame pairing.

Well adding Dame to this team ensures we're a winning team going forward and could even win the whole east under the right circumstances. Poeltl not worth the risk Dame is. Now we might lose OG (who's been in trade rumors and publicly described his unhappiness) and Siakam (probably not but who knows we didn't think Fred was leaving either) for nothing.

I just prefer he trades Siakam now without the rumours and then focuses in on resigning OG and retooling the team. This team is not winning in the next couple of years. Why risk being forced to have to give Siakam a supermax and still being a non contender, that makes no sense.

Philly in the mix for Holiday is a smart move. They actually could also look scary with Holiday returning to where it all started (crazy).

Suddenly flipping Harden to the Clips ain't so bad.

This makes a lot of sense for Philly. Jrue is a stud, even if it's only for 2 years.

Besides, it eats into Philly's cap space next year and they can stay away from Pascal and OG.

That's part of the rooting interest here. If Philly gets into making trades with both Harris/Harden contracts and opt out of FA splurging next year that helps us out.

Same. I couldn't care less about not landing Dame. I am still just confused that Masai is willing to go into the season with 3 starters as pending UFAs and you cannot afford all 3 without going into the tax. Make it make sense.

Trent and Siakam extensions coming...now that the trade talk has settled.

I don't expect extensions for either. Masai still wants the ability to offer them in deals during the season.
