ha fk off honestly. they tried to play their silly shady game. Miami probably wasn't even top 5 in terms of attractive trade parter for Portland.

NBA is a new world now. If teams got the assets, they have ever right to try to get that player. Just like Mitchell last yr and Cavs

Or are you saying at the deadline we should have somehow had the foresight to trade for the Bucks picks to block them from trading for Dame? What salary was MIL giving up to obtain FVV AND give up picks?

Come on man

Yes, yes it was.

I assume you'll pull a similar article to show the Raptors offered OG for Dame next year?

Rumored deals and actual offers are not the same. This whole Dame situation should make that very obvious for everyone.

YA DON'T SAY!

We are discussing RUMOURS, and potential POSSIBILITIES, how is this so difficult for people to understand.

Dude asked if a pick was available, I linked a rumour saying it was. What do you expect, words directly from Masais mouth? Get a grip.

OG must be signing a long term deal and Masai must know for sure right?

He wanted winters in Miami and gets them in Milwaukee. Hehe that alone makes me smile. Bucks gonna beat down Boston and the other Eastern teams if healthy.

it's definitely a talent downgrade but at the very least you know nurk won't grumble about touches or doing the down/dirty things expected of big. he'll be setting some nice screens for all those guards/shooters.

True, it's obviously a "fit" trade for them, I just think they're going to be really bad defensively. Even Durant, who used to be a good defender, hasn't really cared about that end of the floor for the past 3 years. Of course, it may not matter if they can just outscore everyone.

that's def the idea. it's a wash defensively anyway. neither ayton or nurk were good. but the nuggets just won a title trotting jokic out there and he's not a stopped by any means, though they obviously have better defenders there.

maybe that will make the difference if they match up against next spring

Compared to Miami's "assets", Jrue and Ayton with some picks is decent I think. Even good possibly. Either way, I think we can all agree, **** Miami.

The "other GMs mused that Raptors wouldn't dangle OG" sure smells like damage control from our FO.

He would be foolish to take 4/114. He easily gets more next summer.

I think criticism of the Raptors front office is misguided. The Raptors do not have the assets to match or beat Milwaukee's offer. Holiday is better than anyone on the Raptors. Playing with Antetokounmpo he was still able to average close to 20 ppg, shoot close to 40% from 3-point (39.5% 3FGA% during his time in Milwaukee), and is one of the best defenders in the NBA. Certainly a better defender than anyone on the Raptors.

Portland comes out of this smelling like a rose. Conjecture focused on Portland getting Herro and picks. Instead they got Milwaukee to give up 2 starters - the starting back court on winningest team in the NBA last season. They packaged Allen to Phoenix to get Ayton, a 25-year old proven double-double guy. Holiday should fetch a great player in a trade with a win now team - a near All-Star, 10 time All-Defensive team guy who was the #2 scorer and defender on the team with the best record in the NBA last season.

Post trade, I don't see how the Raptors could get Holiday from Portland for cheap. There will be multiple contenders willing to give Portland more for Holiday than Raptors would be willing to offer. Any contender will be more motivated to give up assets for Lillard than a mid-level team that would still not be a contender. Would the Raptors be a contender if the traded Siakam for Holiday? No. There will be multiple teams trying to obtain Holiday and the competition will be intense. That does not translate to getting him "on the cheap".

Why didn’t Portland make Horst find another home for Jrue? Would have made sense if you wanted the asset return.

That said, maybe they see Jrue as a mentor for Scoot?

I don't know he was never reported to be on the trading block

There were reported offers. They weren't meaningfully better than just signing Schroder.

I never heard anything... Schroder is a journeymen close to 30 who can't shoot 3's this should never have been a plan

Personally I think we dodged a bullet here, but I will push back on suggesting Jrue is a better defender than OG.

Are you slow? Prove that it wasn't offered.

A rumour suggested it was period. That has more weight than absence stating it wasn't. Unless you have some NBA insider knowledge you would like to share with the class?

Literally EVERYTHING besides confirmed trades are rumours. As I stated before, if people have issues discussing rumours, you should probably go elsewhere.
