FWIW, I really like the trade for Portland. It basically accomplishes everything that they wanted.
you guys wanted multiple frp's and young talent
instead you got 1 frp six years from now,
a 33 yr old pg,
and an overrated ayton
Wrong.
1 UFRP - 6 years from now when atheleticism-based Giannis is 34 and Lillard is 39. 2 unprotected pick swaps in the same date range.
Blazers exchanged 33 yr old PGs. The one they received doesn't have any nonsense trade demands and I would expect can net 1-2 FRPs to a few bubble teams.
I'm not sure who is overrating Ayton...but he fits the Blazer age range better than Nurkic. He is young enough to prove that he is worth his contract. Nurkic is not and will only get worse. Shoot, Blazers could flip Ayton for a first if they wanted to. He is an 18/10 guy, afterall.
By my count that's 4-7 picks (3 unprotected) that could be upgrades...all for a team that had no leverage

you'll get max 2-3 frp's for jrue + ayton combined + the 1 frp 6 years from now
that's maybe 4 picks IF and WHEN you have to do the work and go find trading partners
i thought Cronin didn't want to do that, remember? lol
as i said, picks are valuable in this new CBA, and you only got -1- for dame. -1-. Miami was offering multiple lol
Cronin/Jody took less to spite Dame and Miami, thats all.
