Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
Holiday would be awesome here, solves 3 problems at the same time (vet leadership, guard defense and point guard play).
What could we give up? Portland will want prospects and/or draft capital. We've got plenty of prospects.

I don't see any way he comes here. He'll be in Boston or Philly or something

Another low-key target should be Malcom Brogdon, who sounds unhappy with Boston. These are the types of players we should be targeting. Experienced, reliable, tough, defensive veterans and huge bonus if they also play PG and can shoot 3's.

I'd rather have Jrue, but Brogdon would also be a great addition to the team.
Brogdon should have been a Hornet from the get-go. He straight up said he wanted to be drafted by Charlotte. I remember it because I was shocked. Those are words you don't expect to hear. In typical Hornets fashion we instead traded that pick for a single season of Marco Bellineli.

Brogdon is hurt. Hence why the Clippers deal fell through. He couldn't pass a physical.

Heat now going after Holiday. Wonder what it's like to be a fan of a team where your "consolation prize" could end up being jrue freaking holiday

Hayward + Bouknight + picks for Jrue, balances both teams lineups and the salary matches almost exactly.
Jrue ~ LaMelo ~ Miller ~ Miles ~ Mark
Rozier ~ Martin ~ Thor ~ PJ ~ Richards
Scoot ~ Sharpe ~ Hayward ~ Grant ~ Ayton
Simons ~ Thybulle ~ Murray ~ Brown
Getting Jrue in a reasonable deal (and firing Clifford) would go a long way towards getting me back on board with this team.

Bump Tyler Herro we need to be going after Jrue Holiday!
Literally the kind of player we need. Someone who can lead and he's the perfect fit next to Melo.
Hayward/picks for Holiday
We are a playoff team the moment we make that trade.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
The Woj tweet said "contending team". I think that removes us for Jrue. He probably ends up on a team that is already on the brink but his presence pushes them even further along.
Would love him here...I just don't think he would choose Charlotte over other destinations.

I actually think he'll go to MIA, they need a starting PG and he'd be a great culture fit
Also queue more Herro trades

Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
Why does it have to be a contending team? What do any of them have that's more valuable than an FRP from us + cap relief from Hayward's expiring. I'd roll the dice on Jrue no question, the perfect player for this roster. Get to work, Mitch!
EDIT: Oh, he's got a player option for 2024-2025. Well, that's really rolling the dice then.

The Hornets are never getting these type of players unless they have a MVP level, top 10 player talent.

So far the only thing I have seen people say is he is taller and younger.lmao
From a team building standpoint him being 6 years younger is a rather large reason that is it a massive upgrade.
Herro is on the way up, Rozier on the way down.
Over the last two years Herro 3.5% better from 3, pretty big difference in NBA standards.
Herro has also scored 20+ points on a top 8 team, Rozier scored 20+ on a bottom 8 team.
Herro missed this whole playoff run and still has 41 playoff games under his belt over the last 4 years compared to 0 for Rozier.
Herro shooting splits 49.7/37.8/93.8 this year.
Rozier shooting splits 48/32.4/80.9 this year.
I was too lazy to look up the stats, but that is actually more of a disparity than I thought. How can we honestly sit here and be like "nah, would rather have Terry and wait it out for a superstar to demand a trade here"? Let's be real, we need to improve the roster whether it's incrementally or significantly and if you can swap Herro in for Terry it accomplishes that without hamstringing us in any realistic way.
the herro stuff is dead now, but the disparity is largely due to Rozier having a crap year last year playing point guard. Year before his splits were 51.6/37.4/85.2
thats why i wasnt excited,

They're worse now and sold super low on Ayton
i think they're super low on Ayton, I'm sure they're stoked with Nurkic who will be happy being a role playing big who doesn't want to fight the coach.

Indeed, Jrue’s agent is going to push hard for a contending team, and why not? He’s 33 years old and nearing the end of his prime. Maybe he’d enjoy the challenge here, but at the end of the day, he cannot control where he is traded. Agree it’s likely to Miami, so maybe we get involved with that relative to a 3-way deal and bring Herro here.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Hayward/picks for Holiday
We are a playoff team the moment we make that trade.
I'd much rather Rozier plus salary filler and pick (note singular not plural unless it is one first rounder plus seconds) for Holiday but I agree with the premise. He has a player option next year which also complicates whether we should invest draft capital for him. I'm kind of on the fence about pulling the trigger but I feel like he'll probably opt in at that number around $39 million in 2024 at his age.
Terry Rozier, Cody Martin, James Bouknight and Kai Jones for Jrue Holiday, Jeenathan Williams and Jabari Walker. Works on the trade machine if the pick expectations from Portland aren't too onerous. We could also take on that Camara guy if Portland insist as his four year deal is not guaranteed after this season.

I know player empowerment is all the rage but Jrue isn't that important to dictate to teams where he's going to earn his cheque. Dude will report he earns too much money not to.
Lillard couldn't even pull that leverage, Portland told him where he's going.

GSW fans talking about Jrue for CP3 and Kuminga, protected pick. gotta admit that makes sense and makes GSW dangerous.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
Jrue can opt out after this year.
So either he leaves after 1 year or we are overpaying to keep a 34 year old on a contract he won't be worth.
Not the type of contract we should be looking to move all the chips in for.
