The salary makes it tough, you either lose Rob (I think we’d keep Al), or trade away all your cheap depth. I’m not even sure the depth route is possible either, I don’t think Svi can be traded until December.

I think the Celtics can get creative with a 3 team deal.

Celtics get Holiday
3rd team gets $6.2 TPE and draft pick
Portland gets Brogdon, Pritchard, $6.2 million player, Kornet and draft picks

I think that is legal, just don’t know who the $6.2 million player could be. Otto Porter? Nassir Little? Ricky Rubio?

Definitely not legal. Can trade for $6.2M player now, wait 60 days (I think) before he can be packaged in a deal.

Cant they find away to make it part of the trade without being part of it? Small trades that go around the rules to equal the things needed for one big trade? I could be wrong, but haven’t teams done that before?

I almost had one idea, but I think it would take four teams.

Still keeping Walsh out of anything, of course!!

I would pass on Jrue Holiday and try to convince Portland to trade Jerami Grant at the mid-season trade deadline. My two cents.

Never been done using a TPE. Can use the TPE to absorb a player but can’t aggregate said player right away or in the same deal.

I like Jrue and he’s better than Smart, but I don’t think it’s an upgrade if we lose Brogdon along with one of our bigs. Stevens might feel differently all things considered, we’ll see.

Ideally, Brogdon buys in to a new role and focuses more on defense/playmaking for others. That would allow Cs to play more skill/small-ball as needed.

A lot of weird aspects to the trade.

Holiday worth more to Milwaukee than Portland
Ayton worth more to Portland than Phoenix

Flip Jrue for picks, Ayton + picks is a better haul than Herro + picks.

Milwaukee upgrading Jrue to Dame scares me less than Miami upgrading from Herro to Dame..

Heck, what about 3 way Herro for Jrue for Brogdon?

The deal that makes the most sense for the Celtics is: Brogdon - Horford - Pritchard - Firsts.
It works both Cap Wise and Roster Wise.

Because: The Celtics starting lineup would be: Holiday - White - Brown - Tatum - Porzingis.
Back to using one Big.

1. Does it make a lot of sense to bring both Horford and Rob off the bench? No, and I think Al might be irritated if
he's suddenly transformed into the 8th man.

2. Do you need both Rob and Al, now that you are back to a one Big lineup? Not, for this season at least.

3. You need to save the TPE to find a veteran backup point.

4. They don't have to include Walsh in the trade.

5. Using Horford in the deal, the roster breaks down to:

STARTERS
Holiday - White - Brown - Tatum - Porzingis

BENCH
Rob - (TPE Backup Point) - Hauser - Svi - Walsh - Brissete - Banton - Stevens - Queta

I don’t get our interest in Holiday considering what it would take. I don’t get it

playa-hater wrote:For those making a comparison of Marcus smart efficiency to holiday., I feel it is very deceiving.. Marcus smart was never asked to be the second or third go to scorer like Jrue has been in Milwaukee...I would strongly consider doing Brogdon AL and PP + GS pick for Jrue..

I don't want another year of going through almost.. I feel Jrue pushes us much closer than Brogdon and Al..

What?!

Smart was our 3rd scorer in our Finals run. 3rd in shot attempts, 3rd in usage. Same as Jrue with their Finals run behind Giannis and Middleton. Again, the difference was Giannis and Middleton were better than Jays in the Finals.

Objectivity is out the door when we talk about Smart.

Lol.. I don't think anyone envisioned marcus smart being our third go to option.. Regardless of what he has done. All I am saying is I think Jrue would thrive an our current situation..

Let's see if brad stevens agrees with me.

I just don’t think Holiday is that big of an upgrade over Brogdon to give up Horford and picks and I’m not a Brogdon fan. I would pass.

One of the main reasons we beat Sixers and Bucks in recent past is cos of Horford’s defense on Embiid and Giannis. Who guards them now? Jaylen? Porzingis will be a ragdoll against Embiid. He’s better as an offball defender and rim protector.

One main reason why we added Porzingis on top of Rob and Al is cos they’d all be insurance for each other if one goes down (not unlikely). If Al is traded and Rob is out for an extended period, we’re ****.

Boston : Herro, Miami SRP
Miami : Holiday
Portland : Brogdon, Duncan Robinson, Miami FRP

Portland then proceeds to flip Brogdon

That what I said earlier, Celtics involved as a 3rd team if they can get an upgrade from Brogdon

I'm high on Walsh so I hope they don't add him to the trade.
