I got a call on it, sure no coincidence with the Giannis news break the other say, haha. But is the 5 year a 6% total or year to year? I assume the latter, so max it could go up is 30% of current price. The last 3 years mind has went up 17%, 0 change, and then 11% drop so an average of 2% increase per year. I’d basically be protecting myself from the 2019-2022 timeframe where I averaged 40% increase a season. I just dont want to lock in with so much uncertainty with Giannis and not much youth to get excited about if he were tk leave. If he leaves, Id rather be able to leave if dont like the season price vs being locked in.
yeah, i got a call too. no coincidence at all! although the good way to view it is the owners trying to aggressively pursue all routes to revenue so they can put together the best roster possible. that said, there's absolutely no way i'm signing more than one year at a time, let alone 5. I'm year to year now, and i may stop auto renewing in December so that i can be sure we have Giannis for the season before committing. if that means losing my seats, whatever. i'd rather have different seats than 41 sets of tickets to a rebuild team.
by the way, that massive increase that we got from 19 - 22, that's not happening again. that was a very logical jump as we went from nba irrelevancy to title contender. they are hitting the ceiling on what this market can support as it is. it's not going up much higher save for inflation adjustments. of course, that's my opinion. i feel very safe suggesting that i wouldn't commit to 3 or 5 seasons out of fear of further escalation, though.
