Yeah really your only movable contracts at this point are Bobby and Pat. And with Dame now in the fold I'd value those guys way more as depth than I would as trade chips. The whole point of combining two of Grayson/Bobby/Pat was to get some sort of combo guard or starting-SG in that 18-22 million range, but that's become a whole lot less necessary now. At the deadline you can still aggregate a bunch of the minimums (Beasley, RoLo, Green) and go after someone in that low-MLE salary range, but I'm not sure who even fits that bill that would be worth it.

I think we will put feelers out there for another guard but I doubt we pull the trigger on anything until Dec when the summer contracts are tradable. I’d be surprised if we moved Pat

Was thinking something like Bobby for Khem Birch and Blake Wesley. Not even advocating for it, just poking around teams with too many guaranteed contracts and players we (or our new coach) have been connected to in the past.

I think we probably just sign Payne. Would be cool to get Nowell or see if Suki can fix Justise Winslow's shattered body.

I’d hold off on signing anyone until they see how the Jrue trade works out. Good chance the Blazers end up taking a vet contract and release the player to ring chase. I’d take CP3 over Sumner or Cam for a one year bench piece.

With the new rules the off-season is the only time teams over the apron can sign vets making more than the MLE, so Bucks are locked out of most ring chasers as soon as the season starts. And due to the new rules, anyone not planning to stay in Portland will take an immediate buy out.

Caruso would be a good get.

Remember the new CBA prevents us from being able sign anybody who's bought out from a salary > 12.2m.

Caruso's incredibly overrated and we probably don't have the assets anyways. The Bulls value him like Masai values OG. Just sign Javonte Green for free.

I did think of Javonte Green as well. I have never been high on Caruso but he is a good team defender. Maybe Delon Wright decides he should ask for a buyout and come win some rings.

I've seen it pointed out that only applies during the season, so if someone is released prior to October 23, the Bucks can sign them no matter the salary.

I wouldn't be upset if we got him, but for what we would have to give up to get him, I would be kind of meh. I would just like it more just from a ''shaking things up'' standpoint after winning 1 single playoff game last season. But I don't know if at the end of the day we would be all that much better with Dame than we would be if we just stood pat.

I would probably be more hyped if we got Buddy. Buddy is underrated and would be a great fit in Milwaukee, and we obviously wouldn't have to give up as much to get him as we would for Dame.

are you bummed about not getting Buddy or feeling ok now? Or still holding out hope for Heild.

I was honest to God trying to do a bit of a reverse jinx there and it worked....lol.. Before I typed that post I was thinking Watch, I bet if I post this Lillard will get traded to the Bucks. The next day Lillard became a Milwaukee Buck.

You're welcome everyone....lol.

There was some truth to my post though. Lillard's age is a bit of a concern, but it's worth the risk. Plus the big thing is I thought if we did get Lillard, we would have to give up way more than we actually did.

But yeah, I am more than meh about the Bucks getting Lillard.

Still stand by what I said about Buddy, but at this point I would probably just rather roll with the guys we have.

We needed a shake up while keeping some continuity and that's exact what the Lillard trade for us.

There was a line in one of the articles about how thoroughly the Suns evaluated Bucks players given last year’s prolonged Crowder negotiations.

However I just can’t imagine Phoenix preferred Allen to other options on our roster.

Rather I think there was a game of chicken that happened where Horst just refused to deal Pat or Bobby even after the immense pressure Giannis put on the franchise.

Phoenix folded. And Portland didn’t get MarJon or their 2024 second back either.

That Portland 2024 second rounder is a pretty great asset to have now that we have their best player

“Hey sorry Giannis, the Nets got Dame because we just couldn’t part with Bobby and a second round pick. But at least we kept your workout buddy Pat and your locker mate MarJon, amirite? Please don’t demand a trade to Miami.”

Bucks in: Wright
Wizards in: Hardaway Jr, 2nd Rd picks from Mavs
Mavericks in: Pat, Shamet

Bucks sign Stanley Johnson

Not sure I really like it but it allows Marjon and AJJ to get minutes and adds a combo guard who is underrated defensively.
