More trade value, Dame, Bam, or Butler?

Post#1 » by penbeast0 » Fri Sep 29, 2023 12:54 am

Blazers supposedly asked the Heat for Bam or Butler plus assets. With Lillard's age, would you rank him as the most valuable trade asset of the 3 or would you go with the younger Bam or the playoff success of Butler to add to your contending team? (roster construction issues aside so generic playoff team that needs a scoring point, a wing, or a big equally)

Roster construction issues aside, I'm trying to win in the playoffs. Give me Jimmy.

Personally I have Bam as the most valuable as the only one who isn't on right at the age where performance starts slipping. Then it's close between the other two with Dame for offense, Butler for overall play, and assuming I don't need that 1st option scorer badly, I favor playoff Jimmy as well. But I know I value pure volume scoring less than most posters here.

1. Bam
2. Buckets
3. Dame Dolla

It's age for me. I think Lillard and Butler are disciplined guys who stay in tremendous shape, but they for sure are on the wrong side of 30. Committing to build around a guy and having a three or four-year plan outlined when you're trying to anticipate where that foundational player will have declined by the end of that cycle is not as enticing. I'll take Butler over Lillard because he's better, and also because he's bigger; thus, injury and physical erosion can be offset with a stylistic change in play.
