No, Dame said that about Giannis.

Pretty crazy Cronin would tell Dame he couldn’t come back then gave him the silent treatment when he came to the practice facility to work out.

Portland blew this too, especially now that Lillard’s talking via “sources” about how the team requested he skip the last 10 games of the season with a fake injury so they’d get a better pick explicitly so they could get him more help.

Meanwhile Jon Horst played the long game quietly without fanfare or PR shenanigans:

Over the last few years, Bucks general manager Jon Horst checked in routinely with Portland on the availability of Lillard. The Bucks always had an affinity for Llillard, as did franchise star star Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Oh, I seen his response to the trade now! Take that back. He's just being humble. Better offensive player & shootet, yes. Overall... eh, no.

Oh! * No, that wasn't a full on Giannis tirade. Good... cause that's kinda walking back the talk about Jrue & suggesting his teammates weren't that great.

Pretty wild to have a dude that could drop 50+ in a playoff game playing with Giannis. Jrue scored 30+ only once in the playoffs for the Bucks, though that obviously wasn't his forte.

Even Middleton has scored 30+ in the playoffs only 11 times in 74 playoff games.

Knowing there's a slight chance that Lillard might come in disgruntled, when can we trade him?

Going to be such a shock to have a legitimately great scorer next to Giannis.

He got Dame paired with a top two player while allowing the team receiving him to not give away all their assets.

I think he did just fine.

His job was to get Dame to Miami, and he couldn't have screwed it up more.

Sounds like my new favorite agent

Interesting commentary on Middleton on the pods the past two days. Might have been Bontemps who said the Bucks won in 2021 because Middleton basically played like Kawhi. Agreed 100%. And that’s what started the discussion over whether Middleton was Batman on offense to Giannis Robin.

So then today Antonio Daniels on NBAradio says Middleton now in his proper role as “Alfred”.

Dame is a guy who will likely average an efficient 30+ in the playoffs who will also have the ball in his hands in the final 5 minutes. Middleton will be the secondary player with Giannis being the guy who initiates the offense with a screen or off ball movement.

Honestly, it will be bonkers compared to what we've had, even in the championship season. Dame is on a different level, and he arguably just had the best season of his career last year. Dude averaged 32.2 with a .645 TS% (higher than Giannis has ever had in his entire career!) with 7.3 assists and only 3.3 turnovers. Jrue averaged 2.9 turnovers while playing a much more limited role.

Dame, on this team, will likely have an MVP level season, and he's playing with a 2 time MVP in his prime.

Would Dame Time have been too much low hanging fruit?
Dealing with people who exhibit the "smartest person in the room" syndrome can be a challenge. One approach is to listen their opinion while also encouraging open-mindedness. It's important to create an environment where all voices are valued.

That's all a continuation of Khris on 'Old Man and The Three'. JJ helped Khris out by saying Giannis is undeniably their Batman. They even threw out the 'Alfred' bit without assigning anyone that role.

(See the Finals series, game 6 or game 7 vs Brooklyn. Giannis is #1. But its a team game & Khris was 1B, with all the clutchness. F'n Jrue had clutch plays & shots too. Man Jrue would be missing everything & then hitting all crucial shots.)

But ultimately re: that role in basketball being a trade off & that sometimes Robin steps up to the level of Batman.

Khris knows that Giannis grants him gravity sheerly being who he is.

Our offensive skill is ridiculous. Two legit 30 ppg guys in Giannis and Dame. Second best shooter in the game (Dame). An cagey old seven foot muppet that can score in the paint on anyone and is serviceable out to 3. The most dangerous transition guy in the league (Giannis). A close to 50-90-40 guy in Kris. Two amazing iso scorers (Dame, Kris). An assistant coach who has captained top 5 offenses. This is going to be a fun season.
