Did the Bucks really come out in some forum and say this was not for the fans? That is a take, if so.

Think everyone is saying that fans waited for 5 hours so that the Bucks could get their 10 second video for the gram.

Edit: never mind, saw the quote "It wasn't for the fans." Who said that?

Ok, so it wasn't the BUCKS who said it wasn't about the fans. It was a poster, who then was quoted without using the quote feature, lol. That was confusing; seemed like people were starting to pile on the Bucks for actually saying it wasn't about the fans (which would be deserved).

That's all I was trying to figure out. TY.

Shaffty said it was never about the fans, I quoted him to shame him, because that really sucks.

Nothing says its the offseason like 10 pages of arguing about the pep rally. Cool to see Dame in town on a nice sunny day.

I think Shaffty really meant the trade wasn’t about the fans because the obvious reaction was gonna be overwhelming with joy once the trade was finalized. And it was mainly about Dame immediately feeling at home in his new city he now has the keys to and he is overly satisfied at the chance to play with Giannis and compete for a title. The love of the fan base wasn’t a real “factor” because it was already inevitable.

Maybe I’m wrong but that’s how I read what he said anyway…

Well if anyone knows awful trades it’s George Karl.

George Karl always hated high end talent. Refused to put Payton on MJ until 0-3. Called last shot for Glenn instead of Ray. Chased Melo away. So this is on brand.

It sure sounded like the bucks **** the bed like they do with some of their reveals... At least their wasn't someone painting a picture of dame time trying to match it up with dame's arrival.

But do be honest those video clips of him walking to the arena with a packed crowd screaming is pretty frigging cool.

Also one guys has a career TS% in the playoffs at 56 while being the top option and getting trapped at half court basically every play. The other guy has what 45 as the third option off the gravity of a top three player. How is this a discussion?

Don't care about the Karl stuff. That kind of talk will only fire Giannis and Dame up more.

finally just got to watch the Dame arrival video. i think shafty is half right.. first and foremost, this was for Dame. you trade for a guy like that, Milwaukee was not his first choice, so your initial mission is to make him feel at home and make him feel wanted and adored. Mission accomplished imo. That reception by the fans was great. but there's no denying that whoever went out there and waited for him absolutely loved getting to see him walk by like that.. so it's for both.. but primarily, yes, it was for Dame.

Stop with the Jrue being better than Lillard stuff.... no disrespect to Jrue but they are on different levels.

Was hoping we'd get a Lillard and Giannis/Middleton dap up social media post, but doesn't seem like they are there today.

Maybe if Giannis and Khris are healthy, then Holliday might be a better playoff fit (though Lillard is a next level beast, so I doubt it). However, the last two times the Bucks were eliminated:

Celtics (ECF 2022):

Middelton out for the entire series. Bucks needed Holliday to step up offensively and he struggled mightily.

Heat (1st round, 2023):

Giannis out for 3 and a half games. Bucks needed Holliday to step up offensively and he struggled mightily.

Side Note: In the latter series, I personally thought having Holiday on Jimmy was a questionable coaching decision. He looked exhausted on offense and famously was not slowing Jimmy down. I was watching every game thinking "put someone like Crowder in there and let him absorb fouls, Jimmy is going to torch whoever they put on him. Let Holliday shot down Vincent, be a beastly help defender, and save his energy for offense.
