Love it for Portland...
RW would fit NO's roster like a glove & I'm sure Portland would/could get Kira & a good pick out of flipping him.

Side note, Blazers are essentially finally out from under the Chicago / Nance pick debt by getting that Warriors 2024 pick.

Doesn't it have to be portlands first in the swap unless something else is hammered out?

Robert Williams is a solid piece but are his knees that bad?
I don't love these picks bur the nba changes fast so maybe that Boston pick could be an asset. I'd love if brogdon could get us out of that Chicago pick

This is the first time he's had a completely healthy offseason with opportunity to work on his game. The dude is an absolute beast, I'm pissed he's gone. I understand though.

RW is also on a good contract ($37/3) which is MLE money.

Lol, I wonder how long it’s going to take for more deranged Miami fans and media to try and spin this into a net-negative for Portland.
Cronin, IMHO has done a masterful job.
Essentially turning a player who named a destination in a trade demand into a whole boatload of flexible assets.
And again, now having 3 UFRPs in 2029, the potential of 2 extremely high FRPs in 2028 and 2030, plus more (what they get for Brogdon and potentially RW, even though I think they’ll keep him) sets up the Blazers for a potential dynasty in the 2030s—a lot has to go correctly, but it’s a better and more hopeful future than the Blazers had a year ago.

Let's not forget how good the Warrior's 24 pick could be, they are OLD, Draymond just sprained his ankle and is out 4-6 weeks and they have a killer early schedule - their pick could be very good

Yeah, exactly…Once the dust has settled, I’d love to see the final tally sheet. I don’t expect Brogdon to net much (maybe a first and a salary dump, or a couple of seconds) but still…
Portland has to figure out where it’s going with it’s SG spot. I wonder if Cronin will try and package Simons + FRPs for a young, clear cut starting SF?

I would think it has to be. If not, right before the draft we could trade the GSW pick down to whoever has 30 for a future 2nd or two and have the last pick of the first round to Chicago.

You guys are on a tear as part of moving dame and should be able to flip brog and TL for at least a 1st each. Allegedly clippers are very keen on brogdon still

If we could get McDaniels from the Wolves, it would be a perfect fit.
McDaniels is one of the best defenders in the league and very versatile.
He is young 3 and D guy.

Re: Where's Jrue Go?
I'm honestly surprised how good this deal is. I mean Brogdon himself is good enough to extract some additional value...
It seems Milwaukee aren't the only ones who got desperate trying to improve their roster right?
It might turn out Portland's FO has launched the 2024 Eastern Conference arms race for their own benefit haha.

Cronin is single-handedly controlling the Vegas odds, lol.
If the Celtics are fully healthy, nobody is beating that team in a PO series, IMO. If Zinger goes down, the Celtics might not make the POs.

Re: Where's Jrue Go?
I'd respectfully disagree with that statement. GMs are in close consultation with owners regarding whether to trade for short-term help or long-term prospectivity.Effigy wrote:DusterBuster wrote:Dame Lizard wrote:100%.
There's no guarantee that a mentor is what Scoot needs. Further, Scoot may end up being a flop. I loveeeee Scoot and was beyond stoked that we drafted him, but we don't know how he'll pan out.
It'd be silly to sacrifice a large package (even Boston's no brainer offer of 2 average first round picks + salary filler is a highly valuable likely floor offer) in the hope for a potential improvement in Scott's growth.
It could equally hinder Scoot, as between Scoot, Simons, Sharpe and Jrue, there simply isn't enough minutes.
Agreeing here as well. Blazers have picked their path. Keeping Jrue and wasting the last year he will have significant trade value would be GM malpractice with a team just starting a rebuild / youth movement.
If the Blazers want a mentor for him, getting an Earl Watson type from Dame’s early years makes the most sense. I haven’t deep dived into it yet of who would fit the bill nowadays. If CP3 were interested in the mentor role, he would be amazing, but he still expects to be a starter. His ego isn’t there yet (and may never be).
I hope all of you are right and we find a good team to send Jrue to who gives up great assets for him. But everyone of you is thinking about what’s best for Portland. None of you are thinking about what’s best for Cronin. And what’s best for Cronin is him keeping his job. trading good players for far off draft picks is a great way to ensure someone else is making those picks.
Jody (and any potential new owner) will appreciate that this war chest of late 2020s picks sets us up in the future.
Also, in hindsight if we keep Williams then all of a sudden we are not looking in bad shape for the next couple of years pending Scoot and Sharpe's development.

Gotcha.
If we can get a 1st for him that'd be nice. I almost think pdx views him as a big part of the rotation moving forward but another 1st would be tempting especially if it's not looking like the bottom of the first round

Boston seems high on the list. He would be a perfect fit after they lost Smart. They have some picks, plus Brogdon and Robert Williams for Jrue works.
First prediction. *honk honk*
