Damian Lillard to the Bucks.

Hope you enjoyed that run to the finals Jimmy. It’s the last one you’re getting in Miami. Man, what a bad offseason for the Heat. Let some key guys in the depth chart walk, then couldn’t land a guy who demanded to be traded to them.

Portland looking to move Jrue Holiday. Two years left at $35 and $37 million. It'll be interesting to see what his trade market is. Also, you have to wonder if this makes it more likely that the Blazers try to trade Jerami Grant at the deadline.
----

Also, the Heat tried and tried to move Lowry + Herro you have to wonder if they look to move them in a different move or if everyone is happy coming back to Miami.
-----
Finally, how does the trio of Giannis + Dame + Middleton do? Lopez also still has been great but he is 35 and Dame is 33. Is Dame happy to go to Milwaukee to finish out his career there or is he bummed he didn't get to go to Miami?

So Portland trades Jrue to the Heat now right?

I won't fault Miami for not being able to get Jimmy in the same way I wouldn't fault a high-schooler for failing to get Taylor Swift as a date for the prom.

Even if that high-schooler got the football team and even some of the press to start pressuring Swift it would still most certainly be a hard pass from the Swift camp (who had actual control over the situation).

But yeah. Thankfully it was a pretty terrible offseason for the Heat. It's funny for a team to go from one I had interest in rooting for to do damage in the last playoffs to one which I now partially despise.

For what though? Herro and some weird picks? They have no need for Herro since they got Simons, Sharpe, and their new Dame time in Scoot

Considering like half the league has a need for Jrue's services, I can see them biding their time to get the best package. They have no inkling of impatience with any major trades, after all

Bucks, Celtics, Suns. Anyone without anymore tradeable assets will really want him.

I could see the Nuggets having interest too.

He’s the sort of guy any contender can use off the bench.

The Heat have had an absolutely brutal offseason. Lost the Lillard sweepstakes, saw him go to a conference rival, then as an aftershock saw another rival get Jrue (who they also could have used.

And they lost a couple of key rotation players they didn’t replace. Despite their reputation this year as scrappy underdogs they have a very high payroll that prevented them from making competitive offers to the diamonds in the rough they found.

I really hope Reggie goes to a contender. I wish it for all the good ex-Pistons. Cojo, Rodney, Reggie, etc.

Wow. Trade Smart away but pickup an even better player in Jrue. Nice.

I think I still like the Bucks, but that's sorta contingent on Lopez having 1 more good year left in him. BOS might have the best record in the NBA, but it feels like each of their key guys have a history of disappearing. In a close game, I'm taking Giannis/Dame over any combination of BOS players.

It depends on how much you trust the Zingis/37 year old Horford tag team at the 5.

Even their perimeter depth looks lacking now with Smart and Brogdan out and only Jrue in, even with the upgrade.

Yup, they probably should have kept and paid Grant Williams who could play some four for them if they were going to trade away Williams. Horford and Porzingas are looking like they will both play a lot of five most likely and I agree neither are likely to play 70+ games and Horford shouldn't average more than 20 MPG in the regular season either at his age. They suddenly are looking a bit thin up front.

I’m guessing the Celtics pick up another backup big. Porzingis could very easily get injured and out for the year. Horford will not be able to carry the load.

Portland handled this whole thing incredibly well, and ended up with Ayton, Timelord, Brogdon, three firsts (two distant unprotected) and two swaps.

Pretty awesome for Lillard, a premium player that’s making premium player money and will have a hard time holding up the back end of his contract.

It's nice to see some top contenders going all-in in the East *now*. We're a few years away from sniffing contention, so it'll be nice that when we get there, they'll have used up all of their assets and blown up their rosters

Man. Watching the interview in the Cam Johnson thread on the General Board is making me really wish we had figured out a way to get this guy. Just a really good head on his shoulders.
