Moore: Magic Need to Trade for Malcolm Brogdon
Brogdon is set to make $22.5M this season and next season.
He made 44% of his 3PT last year and 39% for his career.

Re: Moore: Magic Need to Trade for Malcolm Brogdon
This guy obviously doesn't like our rotation and of Malcolm gets traded, he will put "Magic need to trade for "insert name here".
The bottom line is, we just drafted 2 guards, and already have 4 guards all fighting for playing time. That is 6 guys fighting for 2 spots.
I would give it another year before i trade the farm for some 30+ year old vet.

My assumption is that if the Magic did swing a trade for a guy like Brogdon that at least one, if not two guards would be part of the outgoing package.

I could get behind a move for Brogdon to start him at SG. Harris + Cole + picks.
WCJ/Goga
Paolo/MoW
Franz/Ingles
Brogdon/Suggs/Howard
Fultz/Black

Why though? We are already on course to a late lottery or first round playoff type exit team. What would Brogdon do for us? Block Suggs, who we NEED to find out about?

I think staggered lineups that see Suggs as first guard off the bench would be a good developmental step for him. Like what Cole had last season. Brogdon can play on and off the ball alongside Fultz, Suggs and Black so I think he’s an ideal compliment. And his injury history almost guarantees Black and Howard will see significant burn throughout the season.
It’s not a make or break deal for me. Brogdon is a consolidation of Harris and Cole to me, but he has a shorter shelf life.

IMO, we need to take big steps, not baby steps. Baby steps will take this team to the limit that the Vuc era did.
Aaron Gordon just won a championship because he had stars around him. We have Aaron Gordon/Michael Porter level players here. We need stars. We don't need to consolidate our talent to get Brogdon level players.
I think we miscalculated our offseason needs. Thinking that we needed to add and develop more youngsters who don't have paths to good playing time is gonna be a rough.

Re: Moore: Magic Need to Trade for Malcolm Brogdon
I actually agree with the second take on Brogdon, after they got it wrong with Jrue. I think Brogdon is very, very underrated. Just injury prone made even crazier because of even worse timing on it.
In terms of PT, I've always been a proponent that we can fit everyone. Even if we have to sit someone 7 games so another gets 7 games at 27 MPG. Plus, I don't even consider Anthony Black as a player who will develop too far. And both Brogdon and Suggs will be injury prone half the time, becoming one healthy player between them. And Brogdon will get the veteran card to sit anytime he or the coaches want.
But does he fit our timeline? Do we really want to push into the 1st round this soon? It would make sense if we wanted to look better and attract a massive FA signing just before Paolo and Franz are locked into massive contracts that we can't pass on.

Re: Moore: Magic Need to Trade for Malcolm Brogdon
Brogdon playing off-ball has a better three ball. Clearly if he was a Magician he should start next to Fultz.
G-Harris, Okeke, and the Denver pick should be enough, I would think.
That said: Today is media day: Orlando is not making any trades.

Re: Moore: Magic Need to Trade for Malcolm Brogdon
Brogdon shoots 39% for 3 for career , off bench last year he shot 44% on 15 ppg.
Let's not overcomplicate this, he would all those things:
1) best PG
2) best SG
3) best player off bench
no matter where or how you use him.

I wanted Orl to get him last year. Brogdon is a calculated risk, imo. I think he's a guy who looks after himself, financially and physically. The fact he's unhappy in Boston now shows he's thinking about whats best for Malcolm Brogdon. I do also believe he's not as injury prone as his record suggests. I suspect there’s some self-load-management going on there.
So, on the face of it, that might make him a bad fit for Orlando. But the truth isnhe brings so much on-court value in the areas we need most, that he's a no brainer.
Only 2 years left on a manageable deal. Fits our cap situation pretty well.
Boston would have to want Fultz tho (there's no way they're taking Cole). Get a 3rd team im involved where Fultz goes elsewhere and Boston get yet another useful piece and you're helping your strongest rival get stronger.

Yeah sure,
as long black and suggs are in the deal makes sense
Magic have not one but two young guards, just picked in top #6 by this same front office.
but hey, let's trade for a 30 yo not all-star veteran totally plagued by injury problems, what an idea.

I'll be the one to say it - he's a desirable player who would be snapped up by a team closer to a championship if he could pass a physical.
In fact, if he could pass a physical, he'd be with the Clippers right now.

Re: Moore: Magic Need to Trade for Malcolm Brogdon
I think a move like this will have to involve Black and Suggs or Cole.
But I’m not sure why the Blazers would do it. Brogdon is starter material, and Suggs/Cole likely will play in their second lineup. They also have to clear minutes without competition for Scoot, Sharpe and Simons.
But they are interested, I’d considering a deal revolving around Fultz for Brogdon.
Having Fultz and Brogdon may just be too redundant. I think upgrading Fultz to Brogdon is better.

Pretty sure the reigning sixth man of the year could pass a physical
He’d immediately be the best player on the team on many nights. We’d be able to limit his minutes (25ish) by giving our young guards more PT as he can play either spot well. Having a guy like Brogdon could be the key to accelerating guys like Black and Suggs to bigger roles. Fultz would go- to end the uncomfortable speculation about his upcoming risky overpay. Probably Harris too - certainly two guards…I’d trade all of our guards, other than Suggs and the rooks (with a pick or two) for Brogdon and Simons

Re: Moore: Magic Need to Trade for Malcolm Brogdon
Nuggets over years:
removed Nurkic who was their investment early on ( but kept 27 years old backup instad)
removed former 7th overall pick after 2 and half seasons
added 32 years old free agent Millsap
for one year played 34 years old Devin Harris over own 19th pick
traded away own 13# pick (Donovan MItchell selected)
traded away former 15th pick after 2 and half years
In contract of Magic, who fans prefer to keep own lottery and non lottery picks for 12 yeras, just to be sure they wont' turn into Lebron.

so what i got from that is...all those moves were bad by denver not 1 help them and they lost out on mitchell?
oh and they got real lucky on a 2nd rd pick and bailed them out..lets be real
so maybe magic should trade there lottery picks for 2nd rd picks and hope for luck?
so you good with the magic trading the 11th pick sabonis and victor the 2 pick away when they did also?
