Payne is a better playmaker than Jrue. That says it all. Jrue's main offense was @$$ pushing his opponent and left hook at the rim. A miracle we even won one with him.

I like the Cam Payne signing because I just imagined a scene where Dame has lit the offense with multiple 3s, pick n rolls etc, the score has expanded to blow out levels and Cameron heads to the substitution spot to rest Lillard....

Jrue finished last season with more assists per game and fewer turnovers per game than Dame.

The issues with Jrue weren't talent, it was intelligence.

Green, Marjon, Livingston are probably your candidates.

I think we ultimately roll with what we have though. We'd eat this year's salary on Green and Marjon, this and next for Livingston.

Let's assume Bullock would sign with us (he might get offers he likes better).

I think you have to figure out whether TyTy or Green goes. We need the potential of Bullock. He could be a slightly younger, healthier version of Wes.

TyTy? Bullock signing a 2 way? I assume that's a TyTypo.

If Bullock is added keep the young guys and waive Beasley since he'd no longer have a role.

I'm not a huge AJ Green guy, but he can do everything Beasley can do.

Jrue also had the benefit of those assists going to Bucks players, Dame had Blazers players lol

This is the most talented training camp roster we've ever assembled.

To think, in the early 2000s Drew Timme probably would have been starting for us. Can't be any worse than Mark Pope or Jason Caffey.

Yea this is absolutely fascinating. Now that the offseason is basically over we added a ton of offense at the expense of defense with our player moves. Basically every rotation player we added is an offensive first guy who has been a minus defender(Dame, Payne, Beasley). We did add some depth guys like AJJ, Rolo, & Livingston who might be defensive pluses but all 3 seem far from a certainty.

I think the most fundamental aspect of defensive effectiveness is just getting even below average defenders to buy into some basic team concepts. Will be interesting to see if Griffin takes a more aggressive approach like he did in Toronto or sort of blends a hybrid between different looks. Hedging, dropping or blitzing based on match ups and personnel. No team has a full complement of defensive stoppers, but they are effective at team concepts. Should be a fun watch to see how Griffin implements what he'd like to do.

Bah, forgot TyTy was a 2-way.

That said, if the Bucks released AJ Green for Bullock, does any NBA team pick him up under a 15-man roster contract? I don't see it. If Bullock wants to come here, we've got to do it.

The 2023 AJ Green truthers are a weird bunch. I'd waive him in a heartbeat if Bullock agreed to sign here. A shorter Matt Thomas isn't an NBA rotation player. Bullock is.

And we'd keep Bullock away from other contenders. That said, feels like he'll sign at a place where he's guaranteed more minutes.

On the other hand, maybe he starts for the Bucks.

I think I would take my chances on waiving Green and then try to resign him to Wiggenton's 2 way spot. Bullock brings too much to the table that the Bucks need currently. Come trade deadline he could be a valuable piece to add to a trade as well or net you a 2nd or two, if the young guys make him expendable. At this point, Horst needs to get every ounce out of the roster that he can and a proven 3 and D player seems like a better fit come the playoffs.

Can't we waive Lindell, move AJ Green back to the 2-way spot and then sign Reggie Bullock in this course? :P

I'm old enough to remember when a dude named Jarrid Famous almost made the team in 2011 or 2012. I guess I'm too old to remember.

Though his time in Dallas was just two seasons Bullock should be remembered as one of the more impactful role players for the team in recent memory. Few have been asked to do as much as he did in a surprising playoff run that took the team back to the Western Conference Finals (let alone a series win) for the first time in 11 years. They don’t get to that round without the play of Bullock and Finney-Smith.

Tasked with disrupting backcourt tandems of Donovan Mitchell and Mike Conley of the Utah Jazz, then Chris Paul and Devin Booker with the Phoenix Suns, they both put on a clinic of effort and skill in those 13 games. The self-titled “Bang Bros” were one of the biggest reasons the Mavericks continued to advance. In round one he played 44 minutes or more in five of the six games (the other, 31 minutes in a blowout victory). In the 18 games of the WCF journey, Bullock averaged 10.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.2 steals while shooting 39.7 percent from three on seven attempts per game. He logged over 700 minutes that postseason.

Remember when we rostered Awvee Storey the year after he was dismissed from the D League for putting his teammate in a coma?
