It's the same group, except with Jrue instead of Brogdon. And Jrue is a better player than Brogdon. Jrue is probably gonna play 67 games and 32 MPG, as opposed to Brogdon who would have played 57 games and 26 MPG. So less pressure on the backup guards in this scenario..
Right but read my point about playing 2 guards vs. one. In the group with Brogdon before, we figured to play way more double bigs. Most of us were expecting White/Brown/Tatum/KP and one of Horford/Rob to start. It was going to be way more single guard lineups. Yes, right now it's the same group with Holiday over Brogdon, but you also lack the same 2-big lineup flexibility. Unless we want guys like Kornet or Gabriel to play real roles for us, it's way less of an option now.
Eh, idk. Last season we had just 2 bigs - Rob and Al. And Pritchard barely got off the bench all season.
Now, we have 2 bigs - Porzingis and Rob. And if anything, we'll be able to go double big more often than we went double big last season, since Rob only played 35 games last season and we had to really manage his minutes in the games he did play. Porzingis though will probably play like 65 games and 31-ish MPG.
Plus now we have Gabriel, with his young legs (played like 60 games last season) will probably be able to handle more of a workload than Griffin did last season (his body could only handle like 40 games).
Last year we had 2 bigs like we do now, but to go with it we had 3 clearly-better-than-Pritchard guards in Smart/White/Brogdon. Now, to go with the two bigs, we only have 2 clearly-better-than-Pritchard guards in Holiday/White.
As our team stands right now, it's Brogdon's minutes (26 per game for reg season) that are up for a replacement. I think Pritchard will take most of that and Hauser will land the rest. I have Brissett taking most of Grant's minutes.
Last year it felt like if everyone were healthy, we played the following 9 man rotation:
Smart / Brogdon
White
Brown / Hauser
Tatum / Grant
Horford / Rob
Then in the playoffs Hauser got dropped (after the first few games where he played and Grant was out). For the reg season, Pritchard and Kornet were the guys who got minutes when guys missed time, but those 9 were the core regular season rotation.
This year, as we stand right now, I think we'll see a regular season rotation of:
Holiday / Pritchard
White
Brown / Hauser
Tatum / Brissett
Porzingis / Horford
Pritchard will now be a part of the primary rotation, IMO.
