When this rumors of DA for Nurk started coming out, I thought the idea made sense because we couldn't count on DA being a motivated role player and because, practically speaking, we couldn't bench him if he's giving us nothing out there.
So the way I see it, we're better off if Nurk is healthy, and if he's not, we're probably not any worse without DA most nights if we're playing Eubanks and Metu, because the effort wouldn't be there most nights with DA anyways.
The only way this trade this bites us is if Nurk isn't available for the playoffs. So we should rest him if he needs it.

If the Suns wanted a bunch of 2nd rounders for Crowder last summer, they would have gotten it. They wanted players and it was apparently necessary to include him in the KD trade.

They mention him at one point losing 30 and being down to 270 hopefully that's about where he plays at this year 270-280 range

I dunno man. I have been watching his highlights from just this past season, and when he is healthy enough to play, I don't agree that he has fallen THAT far off from 2018. Check these clips in particular. He is for sure slower than 5 years ago, but is still not nearly as flatfooted as Saric, is actually dunking, while having a 3-point shot now.
And if he did get in better shape this offseason, there's another reason to believe.
Sure you can find a few games here and there but it's not anywhere comparable to 5 years ag. He does appear to be in better shape he got married in August so looks like he got In good shape for the wedding so hopefully the injuries have not taken a significant toll and he is back to form.

You make zero sense. Also the knock on Nurk is the same one on Ayton! Get ready to cry and complain!

clearly the solution is to keep him in a constant cycle of marriage/divorce/marriage/divorce in quick succession.

Yep as I have mentioned, when Book or Paul and or Durant was announced as being out for a game everyone winced, "this us gonna suck"! When Ayton was announced, it was like "Ehh, Biyombo or Landale got this ****"!! I think Nurk can still play and I like Eubanks!

Well it looks offcial. Josh is Matt’s guy, ahead of Jones in the pecking order, confirming ESPN report that Josh was one talking to Cronin

Watching Mat Ishbia talk about the offseason, it really sunk in how lucky it was that we finalized the Beal trade prior to free agency. The fact that the Buck and Celtics hadn't made their moves yet definitely made us look a bit more attractive to free agents and kept two teams now looking for depth to surround their own superstars out of the FA minimum market.

Josh Bartelstein just said straight up that the decisions are all ultimately up to Mat Ishbia, that Mat is the true decision maker. I think we all knew that, but it's interesting to hear straight from Josh Bartelstein's mouth.

Re: 2023-24 Season Discussion and Speculation 3 - Post Free Agency Discussion
Both have the lazy unmotivated rep, but a change of scenery probably helps both. The main thing for Nurk is finishing inside, which I know will frustrate people here if they got frustrated with Ayton, given Nurk does a lot more soft lay ins, and turns it over more than Ayton.
But Nurk was very good before his injury and improved a bit last year to his terrible defensive year the year before. And with the weight loss he should be good. His passing will be nice too. I see some analysts saying he won't be happy being the 5th option and his usage has never been less than 22% (about the same as Ayton) so hopefully he is ok with fewer touches. We will likely stagger our guys some and probably have some injuries anyway.

Beal was definitely the get of the off-season, which might sound exaggerated/homerish considering how great Dame has been in the playoffs.
But dude is 33 years old, 6'2, and hasn't been a great finisher or very efficient in 2 years, and has a massive contract going into his late 30's.
Give me Beal who is 6'4, a great shooter in his own right, and 30 years old.

James Jones seems to really be leaning into Nurkic's attitude and play changing based on him being out of Portland and now in a winning situation. Mentioned that Nurk had been playing for a team "trying to get where we are right now." I guess we will see.

I'm surprised Simmons was so negative on it. Only really need to listen to the first 4 minutes or so.

Good stuff so far from Matt, Josh, and James. Easy to see real leadership from the top.

Vogel, when asked the differences between Ayton and Nurkic: 'Defensive rebounding and offensive passing ability." Sounds like they just wanted a veteran at that position who had basketball sense and would do his job.
Mentioned how important defensive rebounding is to end defensive possessions and to get us out on the fast break

Vogel brought up that players will have to win their job and that there will be a competition for spots, but that he may run certain lineups for 5-10 games just to see how it works.

Vogel admits we are more offensively talented than defensively talented lol
