Yeah the Harris hate seems more like people pining for younger worse players to get minutes than reality. The reality is he is a relatively consistent 40% 3 point shooter who can positionally play defense. He is going to get minutes and deservedly so.

I think people are looking at more than 3pt shooting.
Suggs and Harris basically played the same MPG,
Suggs scored more, more assists, more Reb, more steals, better FT rate, better 2pt fg %, more versatile defender.
But Harris shot a higher 3pt%, and averaged 8pts a game with that higher %.

IF you take 2 lotto picks, you should develop them
IF you are going for the playoffs, don't waste picks/roster spots on players who won't see the floor.
we are doing both while doing neither. by drafting the 2 lottos, then parking them behind players who may or may not be here next year.
I was really surprised we signed our guys to their deals so quickly after the draft, feels like they could have been used in a trade.
I just don't understand the direction, it's just so muddled.

I understand that a lot of people here think this way, but I think it's pretty clear that the Magic front office has considered and rejected this view.

The idea of rookies riding the pine for a year is just not the end of the world. It's actually super common across all sports. I don't understand why people keep acting like it's a symptom of insanity.

Sometimes it's ok.
But, this instance, let's look at it closer.
rooks ride the pine, fine.
Fultz, Harris and Cole have decent but not great years and we make the play in, what do you do?
all 3 are FA after this year and Suggs the next. Go with the untested rookies? or overpay and can't move the devalued rookies because of lack of playing time?

"We are good enough to have to make tough decisions" is not a real problem.

You are basically advocating for another year of tanking except that there is no top-5 pick at the end of it.

Saw this on the PDX board where they were talking about Nurkic/Ayton. Didn't expect to see WCJ so high for last season:

compare Nukic's at-the rim (0-3') conversion rate, last year/career to other bigs:

Wendall Carter Jr .850/.739
DeAndre Jordan .837/.728
Evan Mobley .817/.792
Embiid .810/.744
Ayon .806/.772
KAT .791/.710
AD .788/.741
Jokic .783/.717
Mitchell Robinson .781/.743
B. Lopez .771/.676
Jarrett Allen .764/.752
Sabonis .762/.716
Poeltl .761/.724
Gobert .748/.741
Porzingis .740/.693
Looney .734/.715
Capela .728/.710
Valanciunas .727/.684
Adebayo .714/.730
Zubac .702/.689

I'm excited about Black's future, don't think he will get the minutes for that award this year but think he will have a lot of impact in the future just from his style

I locked a few threads because it seems like people are just having the same discussion in every one and those trades are finalized. Boooooring.

Love that attitude, and if he plays well enough to get himself in the running then we’re doing well.

Weltman isn't an idiot, he's self aware that he hasn't made huge moves yet.

Also his words are obvious in that his intent is to see how some of these guys perform this year and them keeping them is a vote of confidence in them, now perform. If they show sustainable improvement, they have a chance to stay.. if not, then that lack of aggression turns into movement.

Jett has a very friendly personality. He makes everyone seem at ease. I'm really excited to see him play whenever he get on the court.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.-John 3:16
