But who will take over as the new whipping boy of Suns fans?
Probably KD.

And why do you think the rest of the league didn't want to give up better value for Ayton as a player or Ayton as a contract?
If Ayton played with the heart of Mikal the Suns keep him. If Ayton played with the professionalism and desire of Booker the Suns keep him. If Ayton was drafted number ten and didn't get a max contract the Suns keep him. If Ayton approached close to any of these things the rest of the league would be scrambling to make room for him on their team.

In part last summer because only a couple teams had cap space, and most teams had a legit starting C. As for trade, him being overpaid hurts, but I think he'd have some value if Indy hadn't offered the max and we ended up getting him on a cheaper deal.
Often times those guys get overpaid contracts from teams and they are hard to trade...it happened with Otto Porter, Tyler Johnson, Allen Crabbe and others.
It's just like Towns, Gobert, etc, the fact that they will become untradeable soon will be because they are overpaid...doesn't mean no one thinks they have value.
Lillard is a superstar and was recently a top 10 player (still would be if stayed healthy), and they didn't; get much in trade for him, but a lot of teams wanted him...they just couldn't give up much....doesn't mean he doesn't have much value to other GMs because the offers were only Jrue and a pick, Herro and a pick, etc. Many competitive teams lack the picks to trade, salaries to match, etc. Trades are often times hard to do.

Respectfully, you're making excuses.
If he was the player some insist he is then with the ever expanding nature of the cap - teams would've tried hard to get him considering it was obvious the relationship with the Suns continued to deteriorate.
Hell look at the Blazers deal - they could've had DA in a straight up trade with the Suns all offseason but they waited for a 3 team trade that spoke largely to spiting the Heat rather than their love for Deandre.

Just proved that Ayton was more about playing for himself than for a championship. Pisses me off that he bagged the playoffs for the last two years and killed the Suns chances at a chip.

Unfollowing coworkers when you are no longer coworkers?
But nah... I really think Book didn't vibe with Ayton's aloofness. Ayton is following roughly 150 people, many former teammates (from Suns), but he decided to unfollow Book and KG, so something was definitely up with their relationship.

Three years later and his game has never changed. He’s the same Ayton that we seen from 2020, 21, 22, 23, and so on.

Well this is an interesting choice of words. I’m going to have so much fun watching this drama unfold in Portland this year.

Seemed pretty positive on him..."excited to have him, likes where is mindspace is now..excited about him..thinks he can be one of the best Cs in the league".
I think he will struggle a bit for awhile with new players and not having that vet PG he is used to. His rookie year he was impressive offensively given the crap for PGs we has, but he's gotten used to just being a finisher because of our offense and how Paul likes to utilize Cs.

I thought when the trade went through that he could average 20ppg but now that I see the Blazers they have a ton of young players all wanting to get theirs so he might not get that many more touches than he got here in Phoenix but I guess it depends on how Billips wants the offense to be run.
