Good grief, Eddie House needs to shut up and not talk so much. Jeez, you're not the star. The players are the star. You should never talk for more than 30 seconds at a time during these player interviews.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

This is also the problem with Zach Lowe's podcast. Endless monologues.

Looks like Jrue didn't make it today. No Lamar interview either, but maybe because he's not in a guaranteed spot yet?

Brad said Jrue is in Boston and beat him to the gym this morning. Can't take part in practice or media day yet but he'll be introduced later this week.

Re: 2023-24 CELTICS PRESEASON – Media Day = Starts at 10:30AM, Mon, Oct. 2, 2023
Brad:
-Brad Stevens kicking off Celtics media day. On Jrue Holiday: "Everybody can see what he does on the court. He's a really good player. ... He's an elite teammate. Elite competitive character. All of those things."
-"This speaks to our ownership's willingness to spend. Our eagerness to be the best possible team we can be."
-"Those are the hardest phone calls. It was such a pleasure to watch Rob grow. When he first got here, he had a long way to go. But he had a great attitude, he was a great teammate and got a lot better."
-Stevens on the big position: "You can all look at our team and identify we're really strong at the top ... as you figure out how you're gonna accentuate those guys." "I believe in the guys who have been in (our) gym. We will continue to monitor and see what we need to add."
Joe:
-Mazzulla said they've thought about the starting lineup, and he likes the #Celtics' ability to go back-and-forth between smaller lineups and double big. They'll decide the starting lineup later.
-Joe Mazzulla's feelings on the Jrue Holiday trade: "Grateful and open-minded. Anytime you can add character and mindset, I think it’s a win. We have that in our building, we’ve had that in our building, and we’ve added that into our building."
-"Nobody is going to have higher expectations than myself...I'd rather be in a city like this with high expectations...the expectation should be there."
-Joe Mazzulla said he didn’t necessarily emphasize defense enough because the need to guard was always so obvious to him. Said he learned last year that he needs to stress even the things that are obvious to him, because they might not be obvious to everyone.
Al:
-Al Horford: “Just a rollercoaster. Just a lot going on. Now we can focus on the season. So grateful to have been able to play with (Robert Williams). He’s a great guy.”
-Al Horford on Jrue Holiday: "He’s somebody I just never would have imagined to be playing next to him. Now that he’s here, I’m excited."
-Horford on Porzingis: "Pretty unbelievable watching him go through workouts. When you see a guy like that, he's really 7-3, maybe even a little taller."
-Horford was non-committal on his desire to start this season, but it sounds like he’s open to whatever the team decides: “We have such a special group here. We’re all ready to get started. … For me, I’m excited to be in this position and have this opportunity with our team.”
Jaylen:
-Jaylen Brown says this summer's workouts with Jayson Tatum weren't the first time they've worked out together in the offseason ... it's just they never ended up on social media before. "I think me and (Tatum) complement each other well."
-"Jrue is fantastic. Tremendous amount of respect for Jrue. He plays with a certain force that you can just feel. He's super solid. As a competitor, he's an assassin."
-Brown on losing Marcus Smart and Rob Williams: "It’s like going through high school and middle school with somebody…You grew up with these guys, so for them not to be around is a little bit weird. But everybody has a journey and I know those guys are gonna do great."
-Jaylen Brown on going to a Colorado game with Derrick White: "D White, he's drunk, 10 AM in the morning...I'm with D White, so I'm like do as the Romans do."
-Jaylen Brown says the team will hear his voice and Jayson Tatum's more this year with Blake Griffin, Grant Williams and Marcus Smart gone.
-Jaylen Brown said he's challenging himself to be a better defender. "I think when I'm locked I can be one of the better defenders in the world."
-Jaylen Brown: "We need to focus more on the process than the end result."
Derrick:
Derrick White: “Adding a guy like Jrue Holiday is going to do a lot of things for our team. … Adding him, I was super excited.”
-White said he's just excited about Holiday arriving despite their overlapping positions, extension talks going on at the same time. "I have two years left," he said, and "whatever happens, happens." "I've heard nothing but good things" about Holiday.
-Derrick White said Sam Cassell talked about him becoming the #Celtics' point guard and prepared him for that role when he visited White in Colorado over the summer.
-Derrick White on his new haircut: "Trying something new."
Svi:
-Svi on why he chose less money to come to Celtics over Europe: "Just being a part of something special, having really good chances and I still feel like I’m an NBA player and I belong in the NBA and to keep on my journey."
-Svi Mykhailiuk said he’s been impressed by how Payton Pritchard has played during recent action in Celtics pickup games. Mykhailiuk was asked who stood out.
Kristaps:
-Kristaps Porzingis: "The whole summer, I was just excited for what's coming. Being here now, being healthy to begin the season, it just gives me extra motivation, extra fire to have a great year."
-Kristaps Porzingis on his foot: "Feeling great. No limitations. Medical staff did a great job of loading up slowly. Now, as I'm getting close to training camp, I'm perfectly fine and ready to go."
-Kristaps Porzingis on the Celtics going all-in on championship expectations this season: “It’s clear what we’re trying to achieve here. That’s the only goal.”
-Kristaps porzingis was asked about how comfortable he is at center. Didn’t seem to have a preference between that and power forward: “I think it’s a tough job for other 5s to guard me.”
Payton:
-Payton Pritchard: “I like the energy in the gym right now. Guys are working really hard, guys are motivated.” He said the goal is to win a championship but they are focusing on winning every game and approaching it day by day.
-Payton Pritchard: “As hard as it was, I definitely think I matured a lot last year.” He believes he grew mentally with his role diminished the way it was.
Banton:
-Dalano Banton: "Rondo, he was my favorite player growing up...I love facilitating and I love passing the ball."
-Dalano Banton says he can fill in anywhere 1-4 positionally on #Celtics. "I feel like I can make an impact screening...we have a very talented team, people who get the attention of the defense...so a lot of time, it's gonna come down to that...making the right play every time"
Luke:
-Luke Kornet on no longer being the tallest guy on the team now that Kristaps Porzingis is in town: "It’s always a little staggering for me to see someone who's taller than me."
-Luke Kornet said he’s really gained some confidence in his game and has worked on becoming a more dynamic finisher around the rim.
Stay tuned for more.

Tatum:
-Jayson Tatum: "I spent a lot of time with Paul Pierce this summer, which was great. He was really motivated. Paul actually lost 15 or 20 pounds. ... It was cool to have him around. He told us a lot of stories about the championship team, a lot of stuff that we can try to apply.
-Jayson Tatum: “Excited about Jrue. One of the most well respected guys in the league. Champion. We won a gold medal together. Happy to have him. Sad about Malcolm & Rob. You spend so much time with guys over 1-5 years & then all the sudden they’re on another team & it’s tough.”
-Jayson Tatum on his wrist: "Just got a bunch of second, third and fourth opinions. Surgery wasn't a common one. Wasn't all the way certain about it, but did all the right things this summer."
-Asked Tatum what it's going to take for he and Brown to make all-defensive teams: "Consistency night-to-night."
-Jayson Tatum on Boston: “ I’ve spent almost seven years here. I bought my first house here, my first car here. My son has grown up his whole life here. … I think, just over time, I’ve more and more felt like I was a part of the city of Boston.”
-Jayson Tatum said he's gained 12 pounds this summer from weight room and his regimen. Said he's getting older and body is maturing.
-Jayson Tatum: "We brought in good guys, guys who are great people, great teammates. ... I think they've done a really good job of that and I'm excited about the team we have."
-Jayson Tatum: "Whatever we have done has been great, but it hasn't been enough. I'm looking forward to doing more and so is everybody else."
-Jayson Tatum on the Celtics’ urgency level: “It was 10 out of 10 last year and it’s 10 out of 10 this year. It’s what we’re trying to do and we all feel that way.”
-Jayson Tatum on Mazzulla: "I feel like he's a little bit more comfortable. This time last year, it was new for all of us. ... He had a hell of a first year. Now, having time to prepare properly as a head coach for the upcoming season and taking ownership of this being his team."
Sam:
-Sam Hauser on handling a slump last year: "It could be one game, it could be 15 games, it could be 30 games. For me, it was a good two months, so pretty long, but I stuck to my routines ... and it came back around. Turns out, nothing was really wrong."
Walsh:
-Jordan Walsh was asked who he’s leaned on for advice early in his NBA career: “Definitely Al.” Said Horford has helped him with everything from basketball stuff to what type of clothes to wear to certain events.
-Walsh continues to praise Horford: "He's still at the top of his game...I was joking with him earlier, when he was going to college, I wasn't even born yet."
Brissett (and Walsh):
-Jordan Walsh and Oshae Brissett both brought up how much it mattered to have the star players in Boston this summer working out. Walsh said it set an example for him. Brissett said that goes a long way.

I lol'd hard. It'll be an improvement if he's locked in on defense half the time and inside the top 150 defenders in the league.

Thanks for writing these up, great to read. Also no joke a little bullish on PP showing real growth this year.

Cs made it through half a day of training camp without injuries. Hallelujah! They still have an afternoon session.
