Who's your 2023-24 Binky??
Felt this needed it's own thread so people can go on record sharing their love and admiration for guys who aren't stars or even starters. You are certainly allowed more than one binky and in traditional binky fashion you are also allowed to dump them once they dump you (i.e. hurt your feelings not living up to binky status). What you are not allowed to do though is deny they were ever a binky to begin with!
So let's say you used to get a little too excited about James Young and wanted him to get playing time and swore you saw a twinkle when he touched the court, but then you got smart and realized he was not the one for you. That's fine, you can dump his ass, but you CANNOT deny you ever got in your feels about James Young. Them's the rules!!
I'm going Oshae Brissett, even though he's a little more established as Steef brought up, because he's someone I've heard plenty of Pacer fans say they wish he got more pt and plays with a lot of energy. I enjoy a good binky redemption story. I'm feeling him slide into the Grant role only he'll make boffum. For the record. I like a lot of these guys binky potential including the guys who will be battling with Oshae for minutes. Out of the 2-way guys I'm going Queta.

It’s Svitens for me, they both will be legitimate contributors.

Mykhailiuk, Stevens and Gabriel.
When it comes to binkies, it's hard to have just one.

Kelly Olynyk: bring him back. Also Theis and I expect several of the Benchettes to play well,
from Pritch to Svi to Stevens to Brissette. I'm sure Walsh will be impressive in his brief moments too.

If I thought Walsh would get meaningful minutes, it'd be him. Seems like a great, likeable kid, but since I don't think he will, it'll be Stevens. I love his defense. Gabriel will be likeable too, with his nonstop engine.

Oshae doesn’t qualify to me since he’s too established for me but Brisset has crazy good charisma. Good interview. Tbh I really like everyone 7-14. They’re fun ! Only Banton I’m ambivalent about. Lightly scared we might get some juancho vibes from svi but probably just paranoid

Re: Who's your 2023-24 Binky??
I voted Stevens and Walsh. Then for my third I was torn between Wenyen and Svi so I just gave up and voted Kornet. And I'm actually pretty high on Payton this year so I could have picked him too. And shout out to Brissett. And I can't forget Banton now that I've mentioned everyone else. I don't think I'm doing this right lol.

Re: Who's your 2023-24 Binky??
I voted Jordan Walsh because I think he's a really good player with a bright future. It'll likely take him some time to crack the rotation but once he does, I don't think he ever looks back. I also like Brissett & Stevens. Anytime you have 6'7 athletic wings that can defend coming off the bench I think that bodes well for your team.
One of the things I'm looking forward to the most in the preseason is the internal competition to earn backup wing minutes between Walsh, Stevens, Hauser, Svi, and Brissett. Going to be a blood bath between those guys.

It's hard to make a journeyman or 2nd rounder into a binky. Nonetheless the answer is Walsh

Re: Who's your 2023-24 Binky??
Walsh was my guy heading into the draft, but I've been usurped in post volume / enthusiasm on his count. He's beyond binky at this point, just a straight up guy that's gonna be a stud sooner or later. He'll rock Maine for a while then at some point will be undeniable. If I'm being rational, that's next season, but rational is no fun. I really did think he had a realistic chance at meaningful minutes post-draft, but Brad brought in guys that are a little more established in his role. He's still got a shot, but it's an outside one.
Hauser, Pritchard, Brissett are gonna establish themselves beyond binky level as well.
So, I went Stevens and Banton as my choices. Banton likely may not make it past October, but I can't get past my tall playmaker fetish. I belatedly added Gabriel since we can have 3.

Re: Who's your 2023-24 Binky??
Like others on here, I can't pick just one!
Lamar - obviously I'm a big fan. Love his toughness, grittiness, his defense. And think he's better on offense than people think.
Banton - think he could really surprise a lot of people. He can play - he just wasn't given much of a chance in Toronto. Brad made it a point to add tons of size to the roster this summer. Mazzulla didn't play Pritchard much at all last season. It would not shock me if the 6'9" PG who can handle the ball and initiate the offense vs defensive pressure and defend multiple positions (Banton) ends up leapfrogging the 6'1" guard who struggles at times with handling the ball and initiating the offense vs defensive pressure (to the point where sometimes we have to put our starters back in the game after they got pulled when we had a big lead because he kept turning the ball over and could barely get it across half court and can sometimes be a liability on D (Pritchard).
Gabriel - would not shock me if he beats out Kornet for the 3rd big spot. Like others have said, high energy, high motor guy. Him and Luke can both block shots. And neither is a good shooter but both of them are kind of a shooting threat, they both will on occassion take and make 3's. Both have decent passing ability. The edge Gabriel has is the motor, the energy, the athleticism and has some flashes of being able to handle the ball, lead the break and take his man off the bounce. Luke's only advantage is familiarity with the system, chemistry with the other guys, has the coach's trust and is taller - that's it..
Svi - as I've mentioned a few times on here, I'm intrigued by his passing/playmaking ability - it's underrated. A lot of people just think he's a shooter. The combination of his passing and shooting (along with being about 6'6" or 6'7") and further along in his development (a few yrs in the league, age 26, plus a good amount of experience playing in FIBA competitions representing his country) has me thinking he could certainly contribute for us. HIs defense is a little shaky but you never know - maybe his defense is comparable enough to Hauser's and the other stuff that he does better than Hauser is enough to leapfrog him on the depth chart? Or perhaps he doesn't pass Hauser but he does leapfrog Pritchard?
It'll be interesting to see what happens. Pritchard, Kornet and Hauser have been here longer, they know the systems and schemes and stuff, have the coach's trust..but there's at least some reason to believe that perhaps Wenyen (or even Queta) leapfrogs Kornet, Svi could leapfrog Hauser (or even Pritchard)..Banton could possibly leapfrog Pritchard, and someone like Walsh, Stevens or Brissett could leapfrog Hauser.

Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

PP was my Binkie, But Jordan Walsh is Heir to the Throne. But I want and HOPE he gets a legit chance to "beat out" the competition. Too many coaches Consciously or even Sub-consciously" put rookies at the end of the Line and never give a "real look" on the assumption that a Rookie can't or won't be ready. Since we are probably talking about the 9th or 10 man spot and Not a step in right away starter, Give the man his chance!!
2 things need to go.. my lack of spell check and Joe..

If all goes as it should, this season will be heavy on garbage time. All binkies will have a chance to show what they have.

Stevens and Gabriel for me. There's a void for energy and hustle guys. They're my prime candidates to fill it.
