What is this vaguely racist crap? In any case, OG is not a dumb ass (his parents were university professors), and he's not American. Check out his interview with William Lou this week where he flashes his English accent.

Plus it shows what a cool and funny guy OG is, and how much of a respected peer he is of guys like Dame

Sounds like it was just funny. OG is hilarious.

Hackett wrote:Well lets see... suppose, LBJ made the same prank, "Welcome to LA", wouldn't be so funny all of a sudden.... in fact, instead of relief, the reaction may be disappointment.

This to me says a lot more about what OG thinks of Toronto, than what Damian thinks. This also makes me think of all those trade rumors and hints about OG wanting to be moved. Unfortunately the Raptors are not going to move OG unless they get equal value for him, and the reality is that there are no teams out there that value OG as much as Toronto does.

That is what is so sad. This cat wants to bolt, but no one out there wants to pay fair value for him to make his wish come true. So here we are loving our guy so much and seeing the stars in his future, and not a single club values him as highly as we do, and yet the kid still thinks the grass will be greener for him in another market.

He is one hell of a talent! Has it all! ...but lets face it guys, he is not playing up to his capabilities when he puts on our jersey. I could not put my finger on it, why he has not made the allstar team when every single fan knows that he has the talent and the attributes to easily do so. I even told myself that all those rumors about him wanting to be traded were false, and its just a bunch of derelict sports writers stirring the pot, simply looking at position and thinking that he is extra cargo.... but after this joke, I am starting to wake up to the reality that OG may just not want to be here anymore. Because I can't explain why such a talented player as him has not been able to take over games, dominate day in day out, when he seems to have the talent of Kawhi plus the youth.

Now I have to consider that he truly is not that happy to be in Toronto, and when a player is not fully bought in to the situation, you get to see what we have been seeing in OG. Complete inconsistency, underachievement and bewilderment as to why he is not playing to the level we all expect him to play to.

This really bites, because IMO, he is our best player, by a big margin. Even though I think he is a fool for thinking that he will have it better elsewhere, if that is what he believes, that is what he believes. You can't do anything about it until he gets to see it for himself. I also wonder, if a club gets a motivated OG, will he be the beast that we all know he can be? Or will he see that there is no escape from himself?

EDIT: Some of you may think this is nothing... just a joke... but this is the same as stepping on your logo. You don't give out a Raptor jersey to someone without them earning it. Especially if you have pride in your team, so when someone jokes about the membership on this club in that way. It bothers me. It's disrespectful to me, as a fan, to the rest of the players fighting hard to wear that jersey. I am sorry, but that is not a HA HA moment to me. Nothing funny about almost being a raptor, unless of course, it is to OG.

Or OG knows Dame didn't want to come to Toronto and pranked him with it ...

That is kind of the point. I honestly don't care what sorts of jokes these guys have between themselves, I just don't like seeing stories written about people being terrorized by being told they are going to Toronto, or having a laugh at our expense. Now if this was someone from another team, I wouldn't give a rats foot about it but this is one of our vets, the guy who rookies are supposed to look up to and follow. I would like to see more pride in the organization, and not have being on our roster become some sort of inside joke amongst the elite players. I know how I felt when I read that, and as someone that forks out for courtsides I would prefer the joke/terror be at someone else's expense. If you want to scare your buddy, please make sure that at the very least it does not become a stand alone news item as it is not a good look for the organization. He is supposed to be one of the leaders, and I would like to see more pride in how he conducts himself in front of the media.

Teams go to a great lengths to create a culture that is respected and admired. Fan's are being asked to fork out a king's ransom for attending these games, and the 15 roster spots are coveted more than any precious metal, job or distinction. The culture we create and enforce is the culture we live with.

These are little things, but imo they say a lot about your character. It is true, the players are not as loyal as they were in the 80's, when the 15th player on Boston hated the guts of the 15th player on the Lakers. These days, they are all friends, and chatting it up during shoot around. Still, the fans are being asked to pay more money and to make bigger sacrifices financially to support their teams, so on that account, regardless of how chummy you are, I would hope that in front of a hot mic you will do your utmost to protect the pride of your team, and not use the brand for these sorts of shenanigans. Like I said, I would not expect this from much more senior guys and to me this reeks of immaturity.

I don't know, maybe I am getting too old and taking this way too seriously. Perhaps I am the one that is out of touch and reading more into this than I should. The fact is that I did not like hearing that our club was the butt of this joke, it rubbed me the wrong way and I started to question OG's loyalty to our organization for the 1st time. This actually hurt me, and I felt awful for calling OG out on this and ended up getting a migraine after posting my rant, but my emotions were real. As a fan, I know I am not going to get a new fanship with another team, nor can I change the positive memories I have from the Scotiabank center, I am locked in as you may say into living and dying by our organization and our logo. So I take stupid stories like these a little more personally than perhaps I should. That said I don't get paid gazillions of dollars, and I would hope that those that do, would take employment and the sacristy of our logo more seriously, after all this is their livelihood, this is one of those dream spots, even if it is on the Raptors.

This is a huge overreaction imo, reading way too much into a prank. On media day OG said, I want to be in Toronto. He repeated that in an interview with Will Lou.
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

Seems like a real down bad moment for this organization lmao, using "Welcome to Toronto" as a prank on Lillard.

Not really sure why this is funny or a prank, and why o.g thinks it's a funny prank himself. NBA will never change the way it sees Toronto because of these dumb ass American athletes.

It is a little prejudicial me thinks but your comment also reflects a deeper insecurity. Who cares what espn or someone else thinks. We’re a championship city now.

He should but not before Billy King. He should be the first executive to get one even before Stevens. Most lopsided trade in NBA history. Still can’t believe how bad it was.

I think he and Giannis don't make the trade if they knew Jrue would quickly be re-routed to Boston. Having said that, they should have known it was a possibility because there was no way POR was keeping Jrue.

Apparently the Bucks were trying to get a third team in the trade Portland refused. Milwaukee still made the best trade for themselves considering what they needed. Can’t control where Jrue ends up.

I would imagine Giannis then, and still now, probably thinks that they could have beat Boston, had he been healthy. So they probably make the deal regardless.

Bucks downfall now is age and injuries which have been compounded by trades that have added more older players and removed all opportunity to refresh the team with young assets (draft picks).

Once Giannis is healthy, because who knows how bad his actual injury is, I would not be shocked to see him angling for a trade.

I ran it for shyts

but RJ and Bruce Brown for Giannis is only 6 thousand dollars in salary difference. Closest I've seen in a long time and I've ran a lot

Problem with Giannis is how bad a fit he and Scottie are. Talent probably ends up working out, but getting Giannis almost definitely means moving Scottie for a better shooter

I think the dream of Giannis for Masai, has now passed. Especially if the injury he had this year is serious. Are they covering up a potential Achilles issue with Giannis?

That would be the ultimate nail in the coffin for the Bucks. I think the reason they were willing to entertain all of these short term trades at the expense of the long term, was they were probably thinking they could trade Giannis to recoup some of those lost future assets.

But if he now has a serious injury, does that screw up all their future plans?

Overall they misfired on trading Jrue and hiring Doc. Hope Giannis is ok

Hiring Doc was definitely a huge mistake. But I don't know if trading Jrue was a mistake. He could never be relied on to be the 2nd option for the Bucks (if Middleton couldn't be trusted because of injuries now), and Boston is a perfect fit for Jrue, because there he can be the 4th option. They just need him for his D.

I'm sure Bucks would have preferred if Jrue stayed in the West, but they first needed to worry about making their own team better. Had Giannis been healthy, I wonder if they would have challenged the Celtics?
