Daryl Morey opening media day by saying there is "excitement" and "optimism" internally.

Even though our starting point guard refuses to come to media day.

Can anybody educate me on why the Lakers are listed as one of the favourites to win it all (not just by Magic)? They were pretenders last year and now their stars are older and -- I assume -- even more injury-prone. Granted, I've never heard the names of half their roster but could Vincent, Wood, Prince, Hayes and Cam Freaking Reddish be anybody's missing pieces?

I'm not a betting person but if I were I would bet they don't get out of the first round.

I feel 50% of it is cause they believe Austin Reeves is the second coming of MJ.

Zion could be a monster this season.

If they're healthy, Zion/McCollum/Ingram could be really fun..

Maybe this is a sign of growth. In Boston he was rumored to be too focused on 38x24x36.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

C'mon, Dame, you were expecting to be in the hot, humid Miami weather right about now. Deal with it, lol.

Watching the Mavs/Wolves ant work and Grant still can't run the break. Just poor spacing. This coming from someone who likes Grant... can't imagine what his critics have to say lol.

Why are Ray Allen and KAJ randomly making appearances at some pre-season game?

I'm embarrassed to admit I couldn't figure out "KAJ" for the life of me. Googled it and still nothing. Finally "KAJ basketball" made me face palm. I guess I've just never considered his name shortened to anything other than Kareem.

The NBA likes to bring former stars to do a bunch of promotional stuff in the days leading up to the game when they play abroad. Presumably to help grow the game internationally. I guess it's a good gig for the players too. Sign a few autographs, wave at the crowds during timeouts and win an all expenses paid trip.
