Drew Carter, who just called the Toy Story Funday Football broadcast with ESPN, is joining the NBC Sports Boston broadcast team this year and will be added on a full-time basis starting in the 2024-25 season. For this season, he will be on the call for all Celtics preseason and regular-season road games before officially taking Gorman’s position in one year.

“Mike has been such an important part of what makes the Celtics so special to our fans,” Rich Gotham, team president of the Boston Celtics, said in a statement. “Drew is talented, energetic and well prepared for the opportunity. We very much look forward to seeing him connect with Celtics fans over the course of the season.”

“Drew is one of the industry’s rising play-by-play voices and has had the opportunity to call numerous sports across multiple platforms,” added Kevin Miller, vice president of content for NBC Sports Boston. “He has a great understanding of the role he’s stepping into and we’re excited for Celtics fans to get to know him.

I've never heard of him. Looks like he previously called football games. Is he any good?

Looks like a background actor from the Zac Efron/Seth Rogen classic “Neighbors”.

Ownership cutting costs elsewhere since they're already spending so much on the roster?

Grande must be pissed..
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

I'm not a fan of Sean Grandiose (every game has to have a Hollywood-like narrative), but compared to Drew Who?
They could have brought in a dozen others with more cache and a local connection...

Grande is good and I wouldn't have been upset if it was him. Probably the best of the options we have locally.

I feel like he isn't quite the right guy...can't put my finger on it...I think maybe he just talks a bit too fast at times and maybe goes on long winded rants...

Too much radio for too long. Old dogs and new tricks I reckon.

No idea who this kid is but he looks a little like Trevor Wallace and I feel like he’s going to prank me any second now

Mike was a young and ambitious newcomer at some point too. That being said, I can't see our children celebrating the storied career of Drew Carter 40 years from today. Not sure why.

Well, I wondered A: Who? and B: WTF does this guy even sound like? and this vid helped with both. I didn't watch the whole thing because I just don't care enough but he's got a good announcer voice and seems like a good enough dude with the bit I watched.

Also, it's kind of fun because the 2 kids interviewing him look like they are about 10 but I guess I am getting old.

That was a thing that came and went. I wonder what Willie Marshall is up to these days?

I don't know if the play by play guy needs to be multifaceted or even interesting. After all the other guy do be Scal.

Absolutely love Grande on the radio, but on TV it was a bit hit or miss, like sometimes the chemistry with Scal was great and sometimes it was cringe.

No idea if this John Carter guy is any better tho.
