I think that will take a while to see. Rookie big men take a while longer to develop. Tyson took 6 years.

I know,and thats's the problem...Mavs Don't have even 4 years to wait for him

Also expected after this game will be Windhorst and Bob8 ranting about how the Mavs failed Luka by not taking this game seriously and how Kyrie will be on his way to the Lakers. LOL

I can't understand why they are shipping a playable C and resigned an unplayable like Powell... that's insane.

I actually thought it would be the opposite with Lively looking more like OMax tonight. Even though Lively is still very weak, he did show more promise than OMax.

arkuo wrote:Kidd didnt even play Luka and Kyrie for the whole 3rd quarter. Really bad coaching? Are they even taking this seriously?

Kief started :D It was part of the pre-game "deal". Everyone gets a chance tonight.

Lively needs to play to develop, it will be bad at 1st, but he'll improve, I wouldn't start him, but he should play and grow through it.

No, mid-season Kidd sits there and "just watches the game like the rest of us"

Except hes not a 2nd round pick.

Right right.

He plays like one though. But chances of a player picked in his range to last in the league are slim. And it gets slimmer towards the 2nd round.

Very disappointed by how he played, especially since he was so impressive in the Summer League. Maybe its first game jitters, but either way he shouldnt have been thrust into the starting lineup so early. He looked completely shaken the entire time.

Powell sure looked good today. 5 points on 2 for 4 shooting. 2 steals. 1 block. Plus (minus) of 0 in 15:47.

Didn't buy into the hype of SL, he'll need to 40% 3pt shot to be effective, he doesn't have it, and if his defender gives him space he's not skilled enough to to pass him.
In SL it looked good, in the NBA it doesn't, Towns was able to block his predictable drive.

With the exception of the first quarter, it was pretty entertaining. Can't analyze stuff with them not taking this game seriously.

These guys are just out on holiday. Riding camels and posing for photos and ****. It's an NBA promotional tour.

I think Karl Towns would be able to block out any rookie not named Lebron James on their first exhibition game. Towns is an NBA vet and an all star. Cmon man.

It's Towns, they had to sell their future to bring him a shot blocker...

Today we have seen, If I can dream from Elvis. Kidd&co. should return in reality as soon as possible and start making real lineups and some plays, if that is not too much.

From newcomers only Williams and Exum deserve to get some real playing time.

Based on one exhibition game, i think Josh Green starts over Prosper. Then I think kidd starts Powell over Lively. I'd hate it but i think that's how it plays out unless Holmes balls the **** out in training camp.

Kidd has a decision to make with Lively over Powell. If Lively doesnt score a single point and just focuses on defense, does he make a case to start on the season opener? Because the drop off from Lively to Powell.is huge on the defensive end. Powell gives up a lot of open shots. But Lively cant screen and rim run like Powell yet athis early in his career. I think Kidd has to make a decision there.

Holmes is better than both, the decisione is pretty simple.
Btw Holmes is a good backup C, not a PO starter.

But they didn't want Ayton for peanuts. Take it guys.

Holmes is closer to 6'8. Lively is 7'1. So i think it will be between Lively and Powell. Powell gives up a layup line playing zero defense. So im inclined to start Lively even if he is raw. The trade off is he will or might get into early foul trouble if he is not careful. There is no upside starting Powell. Maybe for screens and rim runs. But that is if Kidd values offense over defense. Kyrie and Luka will provide more than enough offense to open the 1st quarter which makes me think starting Lively is a better option even if he's raw.

Sadly, youre right and its the reason that I hate Nico Harrison so much. Seriously how hard is it to bring in even an average C to pair with Luka and Kyrie? Some teams have 2-3 and we cant even get a single one.
