Just imagine had we traded Khris for Dame instead of Jrue.

This roster would be perfect imo, Dame/Jrue is the perfect backcourt and we can easily plug Marjon/Jae in for Khris.

I really fear Khris is going to end up like Bakhtiari, hope I am wrong.

I couldn't disagree more. IMO Jrue was the right one to move. 1. Khris is even more of a brother to Giannis than Jrue, and I feel shipping him without talking to Giannis would've been baaaad news. 2. IMO we need a forward more than another guard. Having Dame, Khris, Giannis as a big 3 means we have gaurd, wing, and beast forward/center all locked up. 3. We now have 3 guys who can score 20ppg and play well in playoffs. Jrue's post season woes cannot be overstated. They were AWFUL. Love him, but so painful.

Middleton has long been a bit mercurial here and underappreciated for long stretches, and that's probably due to the nature of his game. It's not flashy, it's slow, it's methodical, but his skill level given his athleticism is outstanding.

When that man retires, the sentiment towards him will change and we'll all look back glowingly on him as a guy who stayed through the muck, and came out the other side with two rings 8-) . He's been a core member of this team for a decade and has done that by consistently earning his keep. He's earned the right to see this core through to completion more than Jrue had.

We didn't make a decision between Khris and Jrue. Khris can't be traded. But imagining that we had, I think that team would have been equally exciting. My only concern with Khris is that they're obviously going to be babying that knee from here on out. We got a discount on his deal to account for all the games they know he's going to miss, I'm convinced.

Jrue over Khris easily. Jrue was being asked to do too much on offense. I expect he will thrive in Boston focusing on what he's great at, just like he would've here if it were possible to trade Khris instead.

I also just think Khris is not a good basketball player anymore, and even more a poor fit for this team. His field goal % has declined 3 years in a row. His 3pt % has declined 3 years in a row. He doesn't move well without the ball. And perhaps worst of all, his defense is atrocious.

He is an iso player who can make tough shots, and occasionally run a decent pick n roll game when he's not dribbling the ball off his foot or throwing lobs off the shot clock. We don't need that now, because Dame will be taking over those duties. And I think Cam is good enough to be a creator for the 2nd unit.

We'd be *much* better off with a hard-nosed, gritty wing who will be ultra active defensively, relentlessly cut off the ball and attack the glass.

If we had Dame, Jrue, Giannis, Lopez then it would be easy to just put Marjon/Jae as our SF. Heck, you could even put Giannis at SF and Bobby at PF in that position.

It's similar to plugging Beasley/Pat C at SG. Except in my scenario we don't have to worry about Middleton being hurt again and again....plus our defense would still be ridiculous.

Very true...and if it was guaranteed Khris would remain healthy this year then I am all for it. Just saying, with the past couple of years of Middleton/Bakhtiari I am a little jaded and just expect for both to remain hurt until they retire especially when the season starts and we already questioning if they will be ready to go.

Khris is just better than Jrue. Jrue is going to excel in Boston because he’s going to get the 4th or 5th most shots come playoff time, not third like he was expected to here. Jrue’s playoff offense sucked no matter what role he was playing on offense or defense.

The concerns around Khris’ knee are totally valid. I hope we can load manage him until playoffs with dame and Giannis doing their work.

I think it's painfully obvious that if you could have a choice you'd keep Jrue and allow him to take a much smaller load offensively and just focus on being super charged Tony Allen.

That being said, Khris is due to have a bounce back year pending health so long as he understands how much easier life is going to be.

Guys, he's fine - at the moment.

The accumulated load is what they are planning to reduce. They have their sights set on post season. Frankly, if Mids plays heavily through the season, that's a problem because we are probably struggling.

I'll be worried if he's not right come playoffs.

you are giving up on a 31 year old forward with a smooth game who scored 40 in the finals who just said he is pain free in his knee for the first time in years? Am i reading this right?

He’s 32 and I think the last two years make this one a big time “prove it” year for Midds. I understand why some are hesitant to be optimistic about him.

I for one love the mental gymnastics that got us to Marjon easily being able to replace a guy who put up 40 in the finals while not being able to replace a guy who has been hilariously awful on offense in the playoffs and just got lit up by Butler.

I don't understand preferring Jrue to Middleton. Like, at all.
