Everyone already knows Team USA will win with or without Embiid. People aren't mad because this will have a material impact on USA's chances. People are just embarrassed for Embiid.

Joel Embiid is legitimately an American and kind of embodies everything that's American so I don't get all the outrage.

I agree 100%. Personally I’ll cheer for Embiid a little more now

I thought the US didn’t care enough about FIBA basketball to recruit French Cameroonians.

Traitor to his native country. Cameroon has a legit shot to make it. Embid turned his back on a Cameroon team that needs him. If they weren’t in the running. fine.

If the US selection team had any pride .. they’d go with Bam. But obviously they told Embiid they wanted him. They can’t deal with Euro teams with tall centres.
Prediction
Spurs in 7. Parker MVP. Lebron 6-17fg, 18pt, 8reb, 5 asst in game 7 LOSS.
The Heat will choke!

How about KAT? Do you trash him for playing for the Dominican Republic?

That’s different for…reasons.

Will have an asterisk if they win Gold - absolutely meaningless. Hopefully Canada wins it all

Canada with Wiggins and Murray on roster and with Fiba rules can win it all. World cup showed how poorly US team coached is.

I'm a little surprised he didn't attempt Aussie citizenship so he could blame Ben for his failures one more time...

I doubt it. He wants a cheap gold to strengthen his legacy. I will be boycotting the next Olympics over this personally.

Why though?

He lives here. His home is here. His family is here. He spent all of his adult life here.

The fact that there are people that think it makes more sense to play in France, somewhere he's never lived, is ridiculous.

i think this is why people are pissed, we’ll have another one-sided boring Olympics. LOL

He should have chosen France, for basketball parity reasons.
There is no parity when the USA is assembling a super team. Why is Embiid going to be stupid and join a team where their best player is a center?

US has always been a super team (on varying levels of course). This was Embiid’s call, with influence of course from powers that be and maybe even $. Sucks for France that they don’t have the salary cap space for this free agent. LOL

Yes, it’s the Dream Team’s version of losing a game.
