Jrue is bigger and stronger, but Bled was damn good defensively and I don't really view Jrue as "better" on that end, especially considering the absolutely monstrous performances so many guys have hung on Jrue's head. He used to blow up so much action at the POA.
Plus Bled had that meme defense on prime Harden that was not repeatable by any other defender ever who tried it.
Jrue is a nice guy and a good defender. But let's be real, the "Jrue Holiday is the best defender in the league" thing started with the JJ Redick podcast asking about underrated defenders, it getting mentioned one time as a great defender no one talks about, Redick agreeing because he was teammates with Jrue before, then JJ asking multiple subsequent guests the same question, none of those guests ever being able to come up with an answer, then JJ mentioning Jrue so there's not a long awkward silence pause and all of them being like "yeah Jrue is super good on defense". Then it got parroted nonstop by other media.
I think Holiday's defensive reputation is widely held over many years. How else could he receive all of those votes that put him on NBA All-Defense teams ten times?
That only happens when a lot of NBA observers view him as one of the top defenders in the league.

Jrue's been all-defensive team 5 times, not 10 (he's received votes in 10 different seasons though like 3 of them he received 1 total vote). And there's also a big difference between being an all defensive team guard...and being looked at as some otherworldly defensive stopper, like the number 1 lockdown guy in the entire league on guards AND wings.
Like I said Jrue is a very good defender, but he's become massively over hyped and overrated on that end the last few years. The classic underrated to overrated over correction that occurs.
You are right about Holiday on the All-Defense team. My bad. Only 5 NBA All-Defense team selections. Which, in spite of my error confusing his receiving votes with actually making 1st or 2nd team, still makes my point. In the last 6 seasons, respectively, Holiday finished 1st, 3rd, 2nd, 8th, 3rd, and 2nd among all NBA guards in All-Defense team voting. He was named to NBA All-Defense teams 5 of the last 6 seasons. In the opinion of the panelists who vote for NBA All-Defense, that clearly makes Holiday one of the elite defensive guards in the NBA.
Any individual is entitled to an opinion, and you obviously disagree with those who vote for the All-Defense award.
Personally, I don't have a measured opinion of Holiday's defensive ranking among all guards. I don't see enough of all of the NBA guards to make an assessment on my own. I tend to rely on the so called pundits and experts who see more NBA basketball than I, whose collective opinions seem more likely to me to put player rankings into a context that makes individual comparisons more objective and less dependent on whims of a lesser number.
