Re: The Official NY Jets Thread.
Quincy Williams has had a fantastic start to the season, and good for Bryce Hall.
With even the bare minimum competence from a QB, this team isn't bad.

Against the Jets, I honestly wouldn't have been surprised if there was a way.

All Zach has to do is hold the line. Let the backs soften up the coverage.
Jets are a good team still imo.

No different than last year. An average QB would have made them a playoff team. So, Zach has to go from terrible to average. Typical Jets.

It's kind of ridiculous to watch Trevor have to play out of his mind every week for the Jags to have a chance and then see Zach Wilson Mr. Magoo-ing his way to wins through dumb luck, offensive weapons, and an insane defense.

Re: The Official NY Jets Thread.
To be fair to Zach he actually made some nice throws yesterday. The PA rollout across the field to Garrett was a DIME in a key situation. Conklin throw on the last drive is probably his most mature throw he's made since he's been in the league. He missed some key ones though. Missed Wilson twice when he had his guy beat. Once in the end zone when he should have led him to the corner and on the go route Zach threw him out of bounds. obviously the bad pick on that last 3rd down play sticks out too. Outside of that pick though there weren't any truly awful scratch your head moments which is the baseline this team needs to win.
Most important development from this game is if AVT avoided a major injury. He's been great at Tackle and Mitchell looked a little rough as a replacement.

More like he got hit by a pitch, then his teammates bunted him over to 3rd, and then he scored on a wild pitch.

This oddly sounds like my short career as a little leaguer.

zack is gonna get **** up since the jets lost at least one of their ends. Jets would have their ends get injured once they have that position settled

It's insane. Hand the ball to Breece Hall, throw to Wilson and if he's not open, look for Conklin. That's basically the whole playbook, but it's got a shot to work if Zach doesn't f**k it up.

Yep. Keep it simple. It may not work against the 49ers of the world, but you've got a puncher's chance every week if Zach just plays a clean game, be mindful of his situational awareness, and doesn't try to be a hero.

Re: The Official NY Jets Thread.
If you compare Wilson and Purdy in a vacuum Wilson has him beat in every conceivable physical metric and yet Purdy is miles better than Wilson. It's up to the Jets coaching staff and management to realize that Wilson doesn't have the brain power, composure, or finesse to be a high level QB in the NFL. They should cut bait but they probably see the arm and his ability to run and it blinds them.

Lazard with his hops is a hell of a 2. Weapons all over the place but that line is just gross at this point

In hindsight, they should have traded Zach this offseason and kept Mike White as the backup since he had some success last year with this group. But also, I don't think they expected to need Zach for the entire season and planned on having him sit behind Rodgers to learn.
What's funny is while I agree with your conclusion I think I disagree with the premise. It seems like this coaching staff actually isn't blinded by any of the physical traits with Zach and are bubble wrapping him in a way that saves him from himself. They never really let him loose and I actually think he plays better when they do. However he's too inconsistent to be trusted at this point.
The FO has their hands tied until one of these teams decides to tank and makes their QB available via trade. I have my eyes on Minnesota. 1-4 and they have games against the Niners and Packers coming up before the trade deadline. Conceivably, they can be 2-6 and decide that tanking for Caleb makes the most sense given Cousins age. If the Jets can get to 3-4 before the deadline, I think you'd have to aggressively pursue him. There's a lot of winnable games in the back end of the schedule.
