Yeah, Beasley has lost his rotation spot at numerous stops because he couldn't guard the opposing scrub, and now he's going to guard stars? Lol

Maybe just maybe thst light bulb went on n he realizes that this is the best shot he has to succeed n he tealizes that he needs to get serious about D from all accounts he has

It's one thing to hope he improves on defense from garbage to average. It's another thing if we're planning on him taking the toughest assignments every night. Imagine Beas trying to guard Tatum, Jimmy, Mitchell, etc.

Wild to me that anybody thinks this would go ok.

Read on Twitter

Is this suppose to be an example of Beasley's bad defense or Jae and Portis' bad defense?

It was posted without comment for your interpretation. Pretty good d for two drives and then a breakdown in communication. Its preseason. Jae did say that its on him to let everyone know where to be on D…

I'm assuming the Beasley comment to mean he's the presumptive starter and that he'll have to guard the PG when they are the best guard because Dame is too important for that ****.

Seems to me if that's the case (and SG role) we'll have Marjon starting after not long.

Probably would rather Malik take on those top guards than Dame with his offensive responsibilities.

Or could not start Malik and start a player more capable of guarding those guys. Not too mention Malik would likely take shots away from Dame, Giannis, & Khris since he's a chucker

He doesn't have to be a shutdown defender. No one does. As long as everyone is competent and knows their assignment, the defense is going to be fine. "Lockdown defenders" are the most overrated thing.

The quote is literally that Malik is going to be getting the toughest assignment every night. That means he's going up against the Tatum's, Mitchell's, Jimmy's, etc. I have absolutely zero faith he could competently guard those kind of players. I don't expect anyone to shut those guys down but Beas is about the last guy I'd be pick to even try and slow them down

I mean, if he's starting he might as well put all of his effort into defense because he's not getting the ball on offense.

My thoughts exactly, unless it clicks for him.

As soon as I heard he'll cover the best guy on a nightly basis, Griff is starting him.

Beasely was a better fit with Jrue, now he's a better fit with AJJ off the bench.

Honestly I might be more worried about his chucking taking away shots from Dame, Giannis, & Khris. He's such a perfect fit for the bench, idk why he's even being considered

Hopefully Marjon plays well enough to go to Houston for Jalen Green.

Probably gave him some promise to get him to sign.

With Jae looking old and Dre percolating I have adjusted the lineup

Dame / Cam
Dre / Beasley
Midds / MJB
Giannis / Patty
Brook / Portis

I feel like Marjon will be a better fit as the starting 2. On offense, his athleticism and energy will be exactly what we need - someone who isn't afraid to help crash the boards, get easy put backs and layups, etc. I also think he'll be a much better defender than Beasley has ever been.

To my eye Marjon looks way too hesitant to start. Think he could use the breathing space with less pressure to develop his game. Also really like him surrounded by shooters so that he can be the drive man.

They might not be expecting Beasley to be a plus defender. Maybe they just want him to start the game to deliver the first hard hacks in the “They’re not going to call everything” defense. One game it might be him, the next maybe Jae.
