it's just so hard to have Dre on the court with Giannis. we would get a ton of highlights but we would also get one guy just leaving Dre completely alone to help on Giannis or Dame. but maybe he can get some decent minutes when Giannis goes out.

Gimmie Dre setting screens everywhere and cutting while he's not being guarded. Anyone can work with Giannis/Dame/Mids

You need someone on the floor ready to do the dirty work and not need to "get theirs" Dre seems a good candidate. Setting up teammates, getting the easy buckets...diving for loose balls etc

This is what stuck out to me too.

For his first sort of real NBA game, he really looks like he knows what he is doing out there on the defensive end. He doesn't just look like an athletic guy running around and giving a good effort. He looks like he actually knows how to play defense and reads the scouting report.

Maybe I am getting carried away by 1 preseason game, but he deff showed more flashes than what you would expect for a guy picked 36th.

Marjon and AJJ make preseason enjoyable.

This is what I am thinking. Maybe AG sees Beasley as kind of expendable. Like throw him out there to get a little rough and to set a tone defensively to start the game and if he gets in foul trouble no one is really going to care. Then you bring in Dre, Jae or Marjon.

I'm looking at Beasley, Dre, MarJon, and Jae Crowder, and definitely taking Beasley to play the enforcer.

What I do like about Beasley compared to Grayson (or Forbes, whose role I think he ultimately will have) is that he gets downhill much quicker when there's space.

I get the spacing concerns of Dre on the floor with Giannis but I need me some Dre and Giannis in the open court sexiness in my life

At this point, AJJ's success is contingent on coaching. AG is going to have to recognize he needs to be on the floor, inexperience and woeful shooting be damned. Assuming Stotts is crafting the offense, he's going to have paper over the deficiencies and utilize his gifts.

Should be a good barometer on how capable the staff is.

Preference would be Marjon with the starting-5 and then let AJJ run with the bench unit. You have the whole season for things to work themselves out, so I'm not gonna sweat who's where on the opening day roster. Could be Beasley for all I care and despite the fact that'd clearly rile up some posters here, I don't think it really means anything.

I think MarJon starting does take advantage of everyone's skills the best with Pat and Beasley spacing the 2nd unit and AJJ tying everything together. MarJon just has to be able to hit his wide open 3s and not forget to dribble before he drives on the closeout.

if jabari and thon had a baby i think it would be marjon. its possible im way off here but thru season one and two SL's thats the vibes im getting. to me his decent skillsets, bad instincts, and slow reaction times match up with those two kind of well

i do think we need to start him and give him some major burn as long as were not getting killed by it. i think we need to know sooner than later if theres some improvement thats going to take place instead of wasting that time in place of others or even other moves longterm.

It depends if Griffin goes for Denver mode with the starters together most of the time or Bud mode with 2 of the big 3 on court together as much as possible. I would like to see the Denver mode for a while and see the on/off stats go through the roof.

I think he has the highest upside in terms of fit and skill in that spot. I'd be excited to see get the nod because it would symbolize the internal belief that he's ready to make a leap. But agree with you that realistically it's not a big deal who is starting or what rotations look like in October compared to May.
