Worst thing to happen to Ayton was getting selected #1. Second worse thing was not hiring a PR/interview coach. He fueled much of the heat gone his way.

And, hes still at it…. I mean, when you think of Grit, you think of DA? I actually feel bad for the kid. Fragile mind in the spot light. Train wreck candidate. Seriously, in all of his time here, does anyone recall a mention of a mentor or cornerman helping him out??? He needs some couch time

Not even close to DA. Kief didn't dash championship opportunities. Only one I can even think of might be Antonio McDyess.

Difference: MoBros were trash human beings, but tried on the court. Ayton is not a trash human, but has a LOT of problems above his neck, some of that is affecting his playing as well.
And1 for the McDyess namedrop. I LOVED the guy in his Denver "McNugget" days and was soooo stoked when we got him... sigh... :(

Totally agree. DA doesn't deserve the hate. He deserves our disappointment but hey....that's how it goes in life sometimes.

As for the MoBros, I was happy when we finally jettisoned the last of them

I would take Bridges 3rd in that draft. I just will never totally believe in Young, maybe it's a blindspot of mine but I wouldn't want to build around that dude.

JJJ is very close but the fact he doesn't rebound well enough to play C full time decreases his value to me. His foul issues also will always be a post season problem. But great player and it's really close.

Whoever said Ayton really needed a PR coach couldn't have been more right. Balagan bro... After the 5th time he said DominAyton it was already old, how the hell does he think saying it the 500th time will be a good idea. :banghead:

I'm just so sick of this dude. No heart, passion, hands, physicality... His regression on defense after 2021 was embarrassing, and his sheer inability to put the **** rock on the floor and DRIVE TO THE BASKET was just inexcusable. I remember people thinking he could have been like an Amare on offense for us. All he's managed to prove to me in his 5 painful seasons with us is that he grabs rebounds 95% of other bigs can grab - people defended him for years on those grounds.

Some fans think the Suns have treated Ayton like a scapegoat, and that's only half true. Our team ceiling rose with Ayton during those years while Mikal was still developing, and he just never took that needed extra step to get us over the finish line. Ayton isn't just the "scapegoat" for us when things go wrong; he is the single biggest representation of all our failed potential and wasted talent as a team. Watching him go from being a really solid player in 2021 to the weakest link in our starting lineup the next 2 playoffs wasn't just disappointing; it was a sign of the times that the end was near for this core we tried to build around.
Watching him get outplayed and out-hearted by Jock Landale, Bismack Biyombo, and a 34 y/o Javale McGee reminded me more of Kwame Brown than anything remotely resembling dominance.

Just get that stupid back tat removed bro

I doubt it. It’s the first preseason game. Regardless, DA, CamJo, Mikal are the opps now. I don’t care what they do or if they’re out the league.

If you still don't realize the issues with DA are outside the box score then I guess you never will.

Yall are crazy, Ayton was a key component of the 3rd finals appearance team in Suns history and of the most wins in regular season team.

Exactly! Looking at stats don’t show the whole picture. Ayton can average 20/10 this season on 60% fg and Blazers fans will still be annoyed with his lack of hustle, poor rebounding, etc

Poor rebounding yet avg more than Nurkic ! Also better player than Nurkic!

Just watch him motivated this year ! Going to be an exciting young team

I sure enjoyed watching him give up when receiving a max contract after finals run. What an inspiration lord people need to be like DOMIAYTON! Dude couldn’t guard an unmovable tree the next few years.

Gawd that interview is comical… the very things that put him out, he claims to have… the hypocrisy? You nailed it DA.

Kid has a boat load of potential, but he’s dragging anchor.

Feel free to follow DA to the Blazers forum. I'm sure they could use a cheerleader/protector with undying loyalty to DA when he inevitably disappoints that fanbase too.

I’ve said this probably a dozen times before and I’ll say it again, Ayton will make a better politician than an NBA player. He’s amazing at saying publicly what people want to hear and at the same time not following through on any of those promises.

Ayton asks CJ McCullom, “You have all this money but what is your main drive? You don’t have to work”

Jesus, I never even saw this. Wow.
