Re: Bringing The Thunder: The JT Thor Thread
Thor's defense looked so solid, I'm really excited for him. He could be a big part of the team.
A Melo - Miles - Thor - PJ - Mark lineup has awesome 2 way potential. Slot Miller in there somewhere and man...

Re: Bringing The Thunder: The JT Thor Thread
I see a lot of folks down on Thor, but I'm a believer. He's not aggressive on ball, but my eyes tell me he's a positive contributor defensively and he has shown me enough as a C&S wing that I believe that'll come.
Where does the board sit on Thor? Are folks wishing he was out of the rotation altogether?

Re: Bringing The Thunder: The JT Thor Thread
I think he'll be fine. He'd benefit a lot if we had more than 1 consistent shot creator on the team. Sit in the corner and shoot 3's.
His rebounding needs to be better though, he's 6'9 with long arms and a solid athlete. Should get closer to 10 rebounds per 36 minutes. He's at around 7.

Re: Bringing The Thunder: The JT Thor Thread
I'm pretty down on him at the moment. 7 games in and he looks little improved from last year. He's scoring less in more minutes and at the same or worse efficiency, rebounding at about the same rate, and eye-test wise just doesn't seem that engaged. But, I guess a lot of the team doesn't seem that engaged.
Not ready to give up on him as he's 21 and I really do like what he brings in terms of his ability to match up defensively with big wings and pester with those long arms, but - yeah - would love to see less of him right now. Miles and Martin, please.

I like his work ethic. Dude may have gotten too jacked in the offseason. I think he's perfectly fine. These 2nd rounders who are drafted at 18 and 19 are drafted in the 2nd round for a reason. Projects.

I think the issue is that the bench is so thin, we need him to play a bigger role than he is ready for.

Re: Bringing The Thunder: The JT Thor Thread
Thor is bad. He’s only useful if that corner three is dropping but other than like one game it hasn’t. He’s had numerous opportunities to finish at the rim and couldn’t as well. Hes just very uncoordinated and clumsy with the ball. I think he’s also indecisive which is a problem. Basically all of the issues Nick Richards had until he calmed down 5% so he could control himself better. I’m not sure I see it happening with Thor. I hope I’m wrong though

The team is better defensively with him on the court than off. He's 21, maybe he finds a corner 3. If not, he is still the success story of his draft compatriots.

But I've never seen a more embarrassing play than causing a shot clock violation because you got stuffed at the rim and didnt get the benefit of contact with the rim. That was as a souring lowlight.

Re: Bringing The Thunder: The JT Thor Thread
I think he is okay as a 5 on 5 team defender, but he isn't a great 1 on 1 defender by any means. I have seen him get toasted on that end of the floor several times lately. His offense is just so limited, he isn't a good passer, not a good shooter, not a guy that is exceptional at cutting. So you end up with this guy that can play mins but he isn't making anyone around him better.
In the ideal world you play him with 3 scorers and him not scoring any points is acceptable, but right now our second unit is awful especially with Miller now starting. We need anyone who can throw it in the ocean and he just has zero offensive utility right now.

Re: Bringing The Thunder: The JT Thor Thread
He's not really a basketball player and for how he appears physically with his length and the muscle he's added, it's shocking how little functional use he seems to get out of it. You'd think he'd be out there yamming on guys or finishing in traffic but all he does is shoot crappy brick 3s

There were several instances this season where he took the ball into the paint and with his length, should've been able to easily finish at the rim but somehow fumbled or bricked the shot. Be aggressive dude, jam it home and make them stop you.

i'm out on Thor, at least for now. he should be in Greensboro (like half our team). he's not ready for anything more than emergency minutes on a real team.
