Marjon just seems to go through stretches where he is fighting himself. What is going on in his own head might be his biggest enemy right now. You can see when he loses confidence or starts to overthink and hestitate.

He had a great summer league debut and people were excited and started tweeting and writing about his potential. He was feeling himself a lot after that and pretty much was garbo the rest of the way.

Perhaps he's a tough love guy moreso than a needs reassurance guy.

I’m not totally out on MarJon, still think there’s something there but he’s gonna need some extra attention from a coaching/mentorship standpoint. It’s why I really hope he plays some real minutes with Giannis/Dame. Get him some easy looks to build his confidence, energize him to really lock in on D, etc.

It seems like he could use a consistent role, and one that doesn't rely on him to be able to create his own offense.

This was obvious all last season, but here we are.

I don’t know what actually happened in these supposed 1 on 1 contests, but Some guys just aren’t great 5 v 5 players. A lot of players and actions to process simultaneously on both ends of the floor. It’s not as easy as “beat your man”. AJJ is a master of this, maybe Marjon just ain’t. He can still be an effective player if he focuses on defense and shooting and gets plunked in the corner on offense. But… I think we’ve seen enough to know the guy probably isn’t going to be Kawhi Leonard-lite.

They both make so little, that player likely doesn't exist at $3.7M. Any move for a real dude at SG probably involves Bobby or Pat.

There was a point last year towards the end of the year where we looked really slow and old. MJ, AJJ, Livingston we will be faster this year and have talented youth to throw at those teams. Miami always had a young dude or 2 that showed out during the year and helped their playoff run; it's finally our turn for that.

They know what they have in Pat so at the very least, he's your safety valve starting-SG in the postseason if all else fails. But this is why I think Reggie Bullock would have been a better pickup than Payne from a fit standpoint. Closer to the deadline I'd be looking at guys in that $9-13 million salary range. How's Alec Burks' defense?

This part probably explains why he hasn't played in the first 2 games.

“I’ve been on the floor during practice,” Lillard said. “It is a process, but it doesn’t take long. The first day, I was really tired. It was the day I spoke to you guys (the second day of training camp). I was really tired that day because it was literally my first time. I don’t even mean, like, ‘Oh I had played some in the summer.’

“I hadn’t played at all, so the first day, I was really tired, but then by the next time I got out there, I felt a lot better. And then the next day, I felt a lot better, and then yesterday (Monday) when we practiced, I felt my best. I didn’t get tired much. I had my legs. I was hitting shots. I was getting to the rim, you know, I had my step. It was like I felt better. So I’ve felt real good as the days have added up. I feel good about whenever I get on the court I’ll feel good.”
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Yeah, I think he has a chance to be a really good rotational player. It was just weird that people put him as an almost untouchable. Realistically, his production over the next 2 years (basically when it matters for us) would have been replaceable by some vet. Like what are the chances Marjon outperforms someone like Reggie Bullock who signed for the vet min this year? Am I throwing him in for the hell of it? Absolutely not. But I wasn't going to let a big trade fall apart if he was to be included...which some posters seemed to imply this summer.

I think in hindsight, Payne/Bullock would've been a better combo than Payne/Beasley. I think we need a backup PG and have hopes Payne's quickness brings a different look to us.

I wouldn't be shocked if Bullock ends up getting released after the trade deadline. Houston is clearly trying to win but if it looks like that's not going to happen I wouldn't be surprised if they release Bullock so he can ring chase.

I wonder how many times this year we will be able to combine Malik and Khris's shooting numbers and it's like 4 for 30 and 1 of 12 from the 3

We needed Payne too. We needed both. We've needed Payne since George Hill got old. Cutting Beasley for Bullock should have been an easy move.

What are the odds the league actually contacted the organization and told them they'd open a tampering investigation if we didn't promise to play Dame/Giannis vs. LA on national TV? I'm only half-kidding.
