AZ doing a bullpen game. I'd love to see the sweep.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I'm definitely pulling for Arizona. I always like seeing the big market teams lose, not that Phoenix is a small market but atleast it's new blood. And I always feel just a little bit better that the team we lost to was pretty good(or atleast hot at the time) and it wasn't just us losing to a terrible squad
Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"

As much as I hate Philly in general it would make me happy if Atlanta lost. I want maximum hurt.

Can't remember the last time a regular season has been rendered this utterly meaningless.

Looks like letting too many teams in and letting the best teams sit has had a pretty big impact.

Want to do well in the playoffs? Want to win the World Series? All you have to do is beat the Brewers. Somehow doing so your team will get hot and win it all. Nationals, Dodgers, and Braves did it after beating the Brewers previous years, and now the Diamondbacks are doing well.

I just looked it up and you can go all the way back to the 1981 playoffs. All 9 teams that eliminated the Brewers went on to the World Series, and only the 1981 Yankees and 2018 Dodgers lost in the series.
Wut we've got here is... faaailure... to communakate.

Walker Buehler - Tommy John last year, hoped to return for September this year - did not
Dustin May - End of year surgery
Trevor Bauer - Meh, that whole situation was a while ago, but just mentioning
Julio Urias - 2nd domestic violence charge
Bonus because he still pitched this year but Kershaw was pitching with a bum shoulder.
Yeah, I wanted the Brewers to sneak out of R1 because it was a beatable team.

Re: 2023 ATL Thread - PLAYOFFS
Two takes here:
1. Yes, as usual, it's just stupid chaos.
2. However, while I almost never ascribe to the idea that you can "build a team that can succeed in the playoffs" - if you can afford it or make it so, "stars and scrubs" or "stars and a deep minors system" in an ideal case might be the best option...but there are a lot of corpses on the way to this strategy.

The Braves not even making the NLCS is legitimately shocking.

Re: 2023 ATL Thread - PLAYOFFS
I'm also shocked with Atlanta. I thought they were going to roll to at least the NLCS. The Dodgers I felt were vulnerable, but even Arizona sweeping them was pretty surprising.
Rating-wise I think MLB should at least have pretty big markets outside of maybe Arizona/Phoenix even though these aren't the top teams if you will. Dallas or Houston markets will be solid, and Philadelphia is pretty large. The teams may not be sexy though and there may be some Astros fatigue, which could hurt. I kind of hope Arizona or Texas wins it, Phillies don't bother me though either I guess.

Re: 2023 ATL Thread - PLAYOFFS
Marlins part ways with Kim Ng. Kind of surprising as felt they were ascending and doing so with limited resources. Wonder what happened.
Edit: Sounded like she declined the option.
