Seemed nice enough, and acknowledged he wouldn't instantly be accepted by the city.

Got the voice for it also, now hopefully as time progresses he can get past the painfully obvious talking points he was provided ahead of the game. Building a sense of the team and of basketball in general will be a big work on, things Mike inherently had from the beginning.

Thought he did a great job in his debut versus the Knicks. Calm, collected, prepared, funny without trying hard to be so, good rapport with Scal, and a great voice. Lots to work with here!

I think, the "I lived it" part was a bit much...

Did I hear it right, that Drew said "Welcome to the Pritching Hour!" during the first game?

I'm a sucker for bad puns, so I'm in.

Scal has the knowledge of the game down. He gives way more insights than other color analysts like Dominique and Alaa Abdelnaby. But I don’t care at all for his approach, his voice and his confrontational demeanor. He’s a smart guy who sees the game well but gives off these dumb jock vibes every so often that make him unlikeable.

I watch a lot of league pass and my favorite broadcasting team is Orlando. David Steele and Jeff Turner. Two guys who keep the game light, have a good time and always praise the other team too. Those two are a delight to listen to. I like the team in New Orleans too but I think Antonio Daniels is a bit of an acquire taste.

I thought the same thing. I was surprised how good he was off the bat.

I've tried warming up to Scal, but yea, I've got to agree. The guy is always looking to pick a fight. How insecure can you be? Dude needs to lighten up or step down and let someone likeable join Drew.

Yeah - clever line..and it worked because Halloween is right around the corner.

Now, if he is still saying that line in March, he's gone :)
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

It's also a play off "the witching hour" from Scott Hanson and NFL Redzone, so not necessarily so seasonal.

This is clearly Drew's passion, so I assume he studies other pros and Hanson does 7 hours straight of play-by-play every week with no breaks. I assume Drew's picked up things here and there from all the guys he looks up to.

How about totally no commentators every game.

There's no one every fan will love.

Might as well show games with no commentators or announcers.

Agreed. Captured the emotions of the moment without being over-the-top or incoherent lol.

He won’t be Gorman. No one should expect him to be.

That resembled Johnny Most more than it resembled Gorman.

I grew up listening to Vin Scully call baseball, so I relate more naturally to the avuncular style of announcing. But excitable announcers can work well too, as in this example.

Felt like how a March Madness game ends and that is right up Drew's alley with his college basketball experience.
