If we want a tough nosed veteran who also contributes well on the court we have to start winning. All those guys just jump from contender to contender. They damn sure aren't coming here unless we ridiculously overpay them.

Re: Has another arrest warrant: The Miles Bridges Thread
Biz GilWalker is right in that the Front office should now be scrambling to look for options at the 3/4.
Kai was meh, but bridges was going to be a big part of the year. Hayward will probably play 40 odd games, we need some depth.
Im expecting front office to sit on their hands and do nothing again, "awaiting investigation blah, blah, blah". Thats just not good enough, the team needs them to do something.

court documents show that Bridges was served this morning at 6:11am. so, more details should be forthcoming I would think. probably this morning or at least today. at least the summons will become public now.

I’m afraid the FO will use it as another excuse to lose. “We just can’t control injuries or this situation, it’s unfortunate” It’s their MO.

Nothing like a mugshot smirk when you're accused of throwing pool balls at a car with your kids inside it. Dudes such a loser.

I'm admittedly not the board's biggest fan of either Richards or Martin, so I truly believe we need backups at every single position. If Hayward goes down for any length of time and we're starting Ball/Rozier/Miller/PJ/Mark... 1) that's not enough for the playoffs or arguably even the play-ins and 2) our entire bench is D-League or a step or two above D-League level. We will die every time we go to the bench. Bridges really sank this entire iteration of the team in my opinion.
As much as I don't want to tank, we might have to just to replace him. I was counting on 70 games of Bridges this year even when predicting the Clifford special of 36-38 wins.

What really sucks in all this is that Kai could have received meaningful minutes this season after all this and he went absolutely insane.

Miller and Thor are going to get a lot more playing time, we need both of them to step up.

Re: Has another arrest warrant: The Miles Bridges Thread
Well, I guess this ends it for Miles Bridges. I mean, his talent will get him a shot somewhere, someday, maybe China, and maybe that's what lets him sleep at night and do some truly boneheaded stuff with impunity. But I think this is the end for Bridges in Charlotte, and I, for one, am relieved to see him go, though not happy about it for all concerned.
I'm one of millions of kids whose parents divorced in a bad way. Anger persists. Hurt feelings between mom and dad come out in ways that cause further hurt. And the kids see it all, absorb it all, and are forever damaged. For his kids' sake, I grieve what's happening with Miles Bridges.
As for his actions, what Bridges has done is illogical. He's not stupid. He knows that his anger is costing him tens of millions of dollars. He knows that his future as a professional basketball player is also seriously at risk. So his destructive behavior makes no logical sense.
Unless you see him from the prospective of a wounded child.
There is no excuse for his behavior. None.
But I suspect that Bridges has an emotional wound as big as his chest from some past trauma. Could be a father wound because his older sister basically raised him. Bridges spent his last two years of high school at a prep school in West Virginia, too, which likely lacked parental interaction. In short, Bridges just failed to grow up and that might explain his illogical, self-destructive behavior.
No one throws billiard balls at his ex's car and cracks her windshield with his kids inside and does it from forethought. Probably became triggered in some way and lost his temper. His current girlfriend's actions...I don't know. Poor choices all around. It's what children do.
Self-destructive behavior is, in itself, a desperate cry for attention. In its twisted form, a person who self-harms is seeking love, to draw sympathy in order to cover pain resulting from the original wound. I know this because I did similar things in my late teens begging for someone, anyone to pay attention and care enough to stop me. Eventually, law enforcement had to do what my family should have done.
I have almost no sympathy for wife-beaters and especially where innocent kids are affected. But Miles Bridges is still a hurt child hurting others and for that little abandoned boy, I have a soft heart for. I'm glad he won't be a Charlotte Hornet anymore, but I hope Bridges comes to the end of himself, finds healing and learns what it means to be a man, because his children need a real father - not an angry man-child trowing tantrums.

Kai is really, really bad. If we were playing him meaningful minutes we are already tanking for next year. Which I fear is what is coming - another wasted season, the new owners clean house and start fresh next year

I’m good with Miller getting more PT as I think it will help accelerate his learning curve. But, if we don’t have Miles I can guarantee you Thor is NOT the answer to our depth at forward. I see he has improved but the kid is just not stout enough to compete on defense, rebound, and has little offensive versatility. We really need to sign a vet or make a trade to get a decent big.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Professional sports are extremely lackadaisical about punishing athletes. I still think Miles is eligible to play at some point this year
Your Charlotte Hornets! We’ll eventually get something right;right?

Updating: According to court documents, Miles Bridges was arrested for “unlawfully and willfully did knowingly violate valid protective order” and “continually contacted the victim via social media and telecommunication device.” That is from the January incident.

These guys almost never see real consequences for their actions, unless its a video of the incident and even then its almost always around a year. you get more time for smoking crack than assaulting your wife.

Lol the guy can't play. I still can't believe he has some hoodwinked. Any minutes going to Kai would have killed us. Thank God he's gone.
