if Harden couldnt contend with Durant, he definitely isnt contending years later with this team

Well they won 47 games, 2nd in the conference and went to the finals. I'd say he contended with Durant.

you sure? Harden played 1 season in Brooklyn. they got bounced in the conference semifinals. so i would say, no, they didnt contend.

First I'd like to say I'm not a fan of trading for him nor am I am fan of his but come on. That Brooklyn team was a dumpster fire. That team shouldn't have even made the playoffs with all the off court crap going on and it still made the conference semis. I had actually forgotten they played together in Brooklyn. lol My reply was based on their time in OKC.

We have a lot of young assets that still hold value (they might not for long). It's clearly in the mind of our veteran players, that they feel like they are a playoff type team, and getting Harden would solidify that movement. Getting him is not the sexiest name these days. Beal and Dame would've been my personal preference, but Harden may actually be the most ideal.

Should we get James Harden? If you voted yes, what is your trade package? If you voted no, why not?

Why would James Harden want to play in a dinky little market like Orlando? Lol

Lets see... doesn't fit our timeline, isn't a team guy, doesn't play defense much at all, despite great regular season records hasn't done much in the playoffs, would take away leadership from Paolo and Franz... why on earth are we considering giving assets to get this guy?

He wants to be in LAC by the trade deadline I bet. That alone makes it 90% unlikely.

I’d guess that we’d also offer basically Garry Harris and Markelle Fultz alone, maybe making our offer not the hottest one for PHI. The finish line pieces might be Cole Anthony or one of Anthony Black or a protected 1st round pick instead.

But think for ourselves, guys. Because it makes sense to get him in some ways. If he was okay with being in Florida for the full season on his way to LAC.

The whole idea is to tell him exactly that. This is not even Kawhi and TOR. Simply enjoy Florida for one year and re-establish your on court value and what level of new impact star you are in your mid-30’s. Because he has the type of game for playing longer in the NBA for sure.

For us, it makes sense in some ways IF AND IF because everything we gave away was expiring-and-not-our-secretly-planned-future cap space contracts. So why not enjoy a strong season with some ratings value finally. Why not give the likes of Paolo, Franz, Suggs and Black the opportunity to feel playoff atmosphere games in both the regular and post season this year. What’s it like to fight for 50 wins, to fight for maybe making it into the ECF. To make other young players and young stars look at ORL and say dang, that is a legit place.

And in real practice, not on paper.

ORL Roster Prediction -
J. Harden (12.8 APG All-Star) / A. Black (ROTY 3rd Place Runner-Up)
J. Suggs / J. Howard
F. Wagner (22.1 PPG All-Star) / J. Ingles
P. Banchero (24.7 PPG All-Star) / J. Isaac (MIP Winner)
W. Carter / M. Wagner / G. Bitadze

ORL Season Prediction -
Reaches ECF and loses in 6. Even with Harden walking off to LAC in a birds-right trade as expected, ORL has some of the biggest buzz around the league (among the young teams) for not just one but both of their simultaneous amount of young talent and high amount of cap space. Luka Doncic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander are asking out after their season, naming ORL on their 3-team trade lists. ORL doesn’t miss out on adding at least one of them and starting a new era..

That was definitely the most important thing about the post, good catch. :D

(Wemby already has ROTY. So the 2nd Place Runner Up this year is a ROTY winner in MOST other seasons. And 3rd Place might be able to say the same too. The lineup above gives Anthony Black four shooters all around him 75% of the time or more. Jett Howard or some Vet Signing equivalent. Joe Ingles. Jonathan Isaac. Mo Wagner. All sharpshooters or shooters-enough considering position.)

The last time we had any sort of real drama, it was when Dwight was acting out. I like staying away from the drama and entitled players that create it.

If I have to choose this season with Fultz or James Harden, I'd choose Fultz as our PG. Harden is a 2 guard in OKC and Houston but Mike Antoni wanted him to play PG. (Yes, in Mike Antoni's offense, it is pretty much PG oriented pick and roll heavy)

But let me ask, if we indeed traded for Harden, plus we have Fultz, Cole and Black, what position is Harden going to play?

As our SG? We have Suggs, Harris and Jett.

Unless we let someone go, I do not see the fit here

There are a LOT of overwhelming reasons not to trade for Harden…but squeezing him into the guard rotation isn’t one of them. He’s miles ahead of any of our present rotation in terms of talent. He’d be the best, most impactful player by a long way…right up until he left us in ruins, like every other team he’s played for, other than the one that preemptively traded him, for financial reasons.

I just want to know what is the cost of trading for James Harden. His ability is declining. But his biggest problem I see with his age is consistency. He was a beast in a couple games in the playoff. But in Game 7 against Celtics, he disappeared. If he could focus and try to be a playmaker he did last year, I can see some value in him. Do u agree? I just want to know the cost.
