I don't want him to do "everything" despite that contract. With JB, less is more. Less ballhandling and playmaking duties, more offball movement. Make simple reads on offense. More weapons, no need to take 20 FGAs a game. Becoming a more efficient scorer/finisher on less volume will come organically with better shot selection and not forcing the issue. Wish that FTr goes up and 3-ball becomes above average. Become a lockdown defender and be better with team defense/rebounding.

If he only scores 22 ppg but on 62+ TS% with improved consistent defense, team is better for it.

Jaylen Brown is our 4th best player and should be around 30-35 million a year

Post#1689 » by OldCeltics » Sat Oct 28, 2023 12:00 am

This is the best team i've ever seen, besides Pierce/KG/Ray/Rondo

Having said that, what was Stevens thinking when he signed Brown for 62 million a year. He got his money, but still can't dribble on the permeter, and suddenly forgot how to shoot. He seems a step slow too.

Now that he's made 300+ million, what is his incentive to try to win, or try at all?

I don't think he's super max, and we all know this. Anyone arguing against this is just wrong. He's young, he put up efficient numbers last year. Do we need him. Yes. But did we overpay by about 30 million a year, 100%.

Because if they didn't he was gone. He still probably doesn't want to be here but why give up an asset for nothing? But don't get it twisted, he's the 2nd best guy on this team and when he leaves its gonna hurt.

I honestly wouldn't be shocked if he was traded for Embiid in the offseason.

Well it's too late for that. Hopefully we can win a ring this season while he's still cheap and trade him for Embiid.

JB for Embiid? Is there even a legit possibility that can happen? Or just wishful thinking?

Does this need its own thread? Just post in the JB thread.

JB made all-NBA team last year, which made him eligible for supermax. So he signed the contract.

End of story.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

Doesn’t mean we had to offer it

Embiid could ask out if Philly is a play-in team and doesn't get anyone in FA since the biggest names are the likes of Harden and... Tobias Harris?

We really don’t need Jaylen shooting 20+ shots every night but he will do it anyway.

Jaylen is the only player on the team that’s not sacrificing. He’s always one step behind missing easy wide open shots for KP and others. Without Jaylen, these games wouldn’t even be so close lol

When he makes a few shots early he gets the blinders and forgets it’s okay to pass the ball to the hot hand. He still thinks he’s a 1A. White could have easily got more shots today if Jaylen allowed.

Looks good for the stats but we all know that’s exactly what Spo and other teams want in the playoffs. If Jaylen leads our team in shots and touches in the playoffs, we won’t win with a ring. We all know that.

All Jaylen needs to do is trust his teammates and play team basketball. He’s the only player on the floor that is clearly not doing that. Never has.

22 shots and 1 assist is the recipe to lose AGAIN in the playoffs.

Strange how he always seems to play harder when the ball goes in early. If he’s not scoring he completely checks out of the game.

Brown is fine. Who gives a crap how much money he makes. He is an elite, high scoring wing. A really high level sexond option.

Y’all nuts and just want to complain. He is good.
