Imagine claiming to be an NBA expert and ranking Grant Willams who was benched last season over Derrick White. Embarrassing. We all know every NBA contender would take DW in a sec over several Top 50 players. He’s also on one of the best contracts in the league and never misses a game.

Extension talks are ongoing per Himmelsbach. One week to go. I initially thought this was a no-brainer. But that was before they brought in Holiday and indicated their intention to extend him too. I don't know the ownership's spending limit but Jrue took them closer to it than before.

FWIW, White can still sign an extension next offseason after deadline this offseason passes when regular season begins.

On White's extention that has to be done by October 23, it feels like it will get done based on history. I understand they can wait till next off season, but really have been "all in" financially with this championship run. They added payroll with Cassell, Lee and Van Gundy. They didn't flinch paying every penny to Brown, they extended KP, gave an unexpected contract to Pritchard.
They are also negotiating with Holiday which is critical because they can't let him go after one season if he declined his option. So imagine the Celtics taking care of EVERYONE else but essentially say to White " we need another season to see if you are worthy."

Nothing to do with second apron now since extension won’t kick in until 2025-26.

While recent actions point to FO having the greenest of lights essentially buying their way to a title, Brad also mentioned they still have to manage their cap sheet somewhat. Maybe it’s just a case of how much and how long the extension would be. They didn’t max KP. They let go of Grant and “replaced” him with a handful of minimum signings, some of which are non-guaranteed. They re-signed PP to a dirt cheap contract. So it’s not really “sky’s the limit” type of deal.

4/95 is fair to me.

If he signs now, the maximum the team can offer is 3 years.
