Still mad SVG went back to Jameer after the run we had with Alston.

If we're talking Magic point guards not named Penny I'd go Darrell Armstrong for sure.

Markelle is my favorite player on this team with Franz second, but I would take Jameer 100%. Not because I don't believe in Fultz or his game, but watching guys like Darius Garland and Anfernee Simons play just reminded me that that's exactly the type of lead guard we need. Fultz has fallen in love with assists more than buckets; quite frankly, that's not what we need with Banchero and Wagner on the wings. We need a high-scoring guard who takes and makes 3s at a high rate to put pressure on the defense and open up things for them. Do I believe Fultz can do that? I absolutely do, but I don't think he wants that and that's the biggest problem.

Haha the Keyonte love we invested is going to deliver so much swag down the line. And if Black is in the rotation as the backup PG? I'll likely be insufferable. We'll start the Orlando whisperer club.

I was never a big Jameer fan. He was just the wrong PG for Dwight, to the degree that Hedo and Rafer were the playmaking difference makers. Jameer occasionally hit some shots but more often than not he failed to live up to the big moments. I remember that squad pretty distinctly, and particularly how poor Jameer was at attacking the rim or even making entry passes to Dwight. I’d say Jameer’s allstar season was more a byproduct of how well the team was gelling that season since we played half the season without him and went all the way to the finals without him. Then he came back to be the hero and cost us a championship.

Jameer. We need shooting & he's a great 3 pt shooter, partcularly in that era. Suggs can help cover his defensive shortcomings.

Counting stats btwn Jameer & Fultz doesnt make sense due to the pace in the NBA now compared to 2004-2012

THIS SHOULD BE A POLE QUESTION!

I am absolutely a "homer" fan, and there's nothing wrong with that imo. I loved jameer during the Dwight era because we were about as prevalent to the NBA landscape as a team can be without being NBA champions. However even then I saw jameers defense as the biggest weakness to that team. If his "all-star season" was that impressive why did we still have such a good record and make it to the NBA finals with him not playing for half of the season and all of the playoffs? Cole reminds me of jameer. I was so pissed that rafer Alston was pulled from the starting lineup for jameer during that finals. If jameer was the guy we wouldn't have made it to the finals with him injured pre all-star break.

The defining memory I have from that era of magic ball is Chauncey dominating jameer. The pistons were the ones knocking us out most of the time during that period. I'd take fultz 100 times out of 100 times over jameer. In that era.

As for this era? I feel like Cole is not that far off of jameer. Id still take fultz.

Fultz is a marginal starter at best and really ought to be coming off the bench.

You definitely pick the absolute best version of Jameer Nelson here. He was an all star, a leader for a decade and could hit huge shots from anywhere, including the 3. That’s not a knock on Markelle, who I’m a huge fan of and who’s becoming a leader, but Jameer was the better player at his best. Markelle’s got some time to stake a better claim later on though.
You look confused...let me fill you in.

Fultz healthy for 70 games is an easy pick over Jameer.

Fultz healthy for only 50 or less is an easy pick of Jameer.

Somewhere in the middle is not easy either way.

I think, prime Gortat would be my pick to start over WCJ. He is a legit 7footer and can intimidate drives by the opponents. Can't shoot from 3s though.

Jameer's game is perfectly suited for the modern NBA. Elite 3pt shooter combined with being a floor general makes this an easy choice.

Across the board 24yo-Fultz was better than 24yo-Nelson. It is not a close comparison.
