Paolo will be fine. I do think the shot attempts are being spread around more in preseason than they will be in the regular season, but I've been impressed with his passing the first two games. He looked shakier this game and was forced into some bad turnovers, but he'll be fine.

Penny comparison :o

Whew.

6'7 point guards with elite athleticism. Good playmakers and scorers. Good defenders. Sure, there are a few differences. Penny was a much better scorer than Black, but Black is a better defender. Penny was probably more polished at the same stage of their careers. But I'm hoping he has the potential to be a similar player to Penny. Same size, athleticism, and skill set. Penny was a generational talent, and one could say its unfair to expect Black to reach the same heights. I wouldn't say that though.

Edit: We've pretty got Billups (Suggs), Hedo Prime (Franz ), Melo (Paolo), and Penny (Black).

AB’s potential should be viewed as Josh Giddey with defense… which would be an all-star… but Giddey had the right mindset from the jump even though he couldn’t shoot to start his career either.

Penny was almost 3 years older than Black in his rookie season.

It’s a legitimate insult to Penny Hardaway’s name to compare him to Anthony Black.

Coach Mose knows what's up. We'll be fine. Our main rotation held the lead with Paolo and WCJ playing terrible against their rotation. Really hope the minutes restriction can be lifted on JI soon. Hard to get in a rhythm playing such few minutes.

I love you pal, but this is nonsense stuff. Genuinely.

Black and Hardaway were not even in the same stratosphere as prospects and quite frankly never will be.

Penny might have been a friggin Hall of Famer without injuries. He was that good.

I gotta say, Franz was making it look so easy out there. He has really sped up his release and appears to have increased his range. Think he would've hit 30+ easily in this game if he was out there longer. We got us a good one folks.

Bard wrote that comp for me. I'm feeling cheeky about Black. I want to like the pick. I'm pretty sure I do. I definitely think he should be able to earn a rotation spot as a rookie if he's worth his salt. I do think he has all-star upside, I mean around 4 players taken in the lottery on average turn out to be all-stars, so why not Black? But I need to see certain things to believe he's on an all-star path. If he isn't, that is fine really. I only think 2 players, maybe 3 players max, will make it to the contention phase in 4 years. Franz and Paolo seem like obvious bets. Who else makes it? Maybe Suggs, maybe Black, maybe Jett even (though I really don't like this pick).

Everyone seemingly came out healthy.

That’s my key takeaway.

Gotta clean up the lazy turnovers and get a better effort from Paolo.

Some great individual defensive efforts from Suggs and JI. Gary and Chuma had some good defensive moments as well. Franz is awesome, and I actually like the second unit that we rolled out there today.

I hated our draft picks on draft night, but I’m not going to call them busts three games into their preseason careers. As long as we are healthy we should be able to bring them along slowly. They’ve made Mosley’s job very easy when it comes to making a rotation.

Agreed.

6'7ish playmaker with funky 3pt shooting? Model your game to Giddey.

Games like tonight are why I don't watch or look at box scores of preseason games. That, and the time Adonal Foyle went off which proved preseason means little.

And yes, I did pop in here to get a taste of reactions but for entertainment and because I missed mixing it up with y'all the past six months of no basketball.

Fear not, fellow Magic friends, we will have a fun and productive season. 99% of you won't remember this game in April.
