Re: Scoot Over: The Brandon Miller Thread
1/10 from three thus far, I am pretty confident in his shooting based on sample size from last year along with midrange touch he has showcased that won't be a major problem for him.
10/15 from inside the arc is a positive sign. Would like to see him play a bigger role in one of these upcoming games and see if he can find a big scoring output.
Scoot looked pretty mediocre the last 2 games shooting the ball. 9/28 in those two outtings.

Man I'd be beyond thrilled with this. Sadly I think with guys like Terry, PJ, and Miles (lets be real NBA is gonna let him play) worrying about getting their shots up, I can't imagine him averaging more than 10 points since he will likely have very little usage rate.

Last year
Paolo 20/7/3.7
Mathurin 16.7/4
Ivey 16/5/4
JDub 14/4.5/3
Jabari 13/7
Murray 12/4.6
Sochan 11/5/2.5
I would expect Miller to put up at least Jabari and Keegan numbers by the end of the year.

Re: Scoot Over: The Brandon Miller Thread
I'm getting the feeling Clifford plans on playing Miller a lot this season, despite the narrative he doesn't play young guys. It's true that he usually doesn't, but it's because the young guys are traditionally bone heads or lack NBA IQ - Miller already might be the third highest IQ player on our roster.
I'm also not worried about his 3pt shooting. His shot looks like it's going in every time even when he misses. And typically, guys need adjusting to the NBA 3pt line. We've been spoiled by LaMelo there.

The thing is almost all of these guys played on teams that were focused on tanking and player development.
Miller is playing with a handful of longtime vets that will have close to the same role as him, making his opportunity to put up numbers much more difficult.

Re: Scoot Over: The Brandon Miller Thread
Brandon will get minutes. He won’t start unless there is an injury…so that means he will probably start about half the season when all is said and done. He needs to keep developing and let the game come to him. He looks better now than during summer league. His 3 point shooting is way off, but the shot looks good.
Other guys still need to be growing their game. Mark Williams is hugely important but he’s still developing as well. This year can be a good building block if everything comes together health wise and Miles wise.

I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Hornets are trying to be a .500 team, why are you acting like they are playing for 1 seed and he has Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown ahead of him. He is without a doubt in the top 7 of the rotation, probably eventually a starter this year.
As the #2 pick, would not shock me in the least if Brandon Miller is a better player than PJ halfway through season as an example.

Re: Scoot Over: The Brandon Miller Thread
I would have said he might struggle for opportunities before the Miles drama, Clifford almost doesnt have a choice now.
He will be starting some games this year for sure.

Re: Scoot Over: The Brandon Miller Thread
He seems likable enough, and it's a big help if he pans out. But does he give off major 6'9" Jarrett Culver vibes?
Yes.
Dude was absolutely atrocious in the preseason shooting the ball, and was sub-MKG in creating off the dribble. There are a couple plays you like, but those four preseason games only made me wish Henderson wore a Hornets jersey even more. And he's not gonna likely end up an all-time great either, but he'll play fewer G-League games before he retires.

Re: Scoot Over: The Brandon Miller Thread
Just like with summerleague, his preason performance didn't change my opinion on him in either direction.
His defense was better than I thought, but his offense was a little behind the expectation. 3pt Shooting was atrocious and handle was as loosey goosey as I feared.
You expect a 2nd overall pick to score double digits atleast once in a preseason. I am already seeing this board have some first 4 years MKGism with him aka praising him for simply putting on his shoes and walking on the court.
Still 4 preseason games is faaaar from enough to throw a verdict at him. Really hoping he balls out cause we desperately need a jolt on something new on this squad.

Honestly he looks like rookie Marvin Williams. Hope he proves me wrong. But hope has forsaken these lands.

Re: Scoot Over: The Brandon Miller Thread
He shot 1/13 from 3 in preseason. way out of character. I wouldn't get too worked up about it.
His midrange game was really good, looks like a real weapon that can be used within the structure of the offense. He looked comfortable in the open floor handling and finishing. Playing more minutes with starter level guys and less with the bench will help him get easier looks too.

I mean this isn't really anything new, they are desperate to have him involved to bankroll a settlement because I'm sure the other guys have nothing to their names at this point.

It is bonkers.
The girl who died boyfriend was shooting his gun back. Her family maybe needs to be mad at the guy who got her into the situation and not just try to cash grab an NBA player for having 5% of involvement compared to her BF who probably was 50% of the problem.
Don't get me wrong, we can mourn her death but also she put herself in the situation by associating herself with that type of man.
