This is not good. I can't imagine it's about the grind - Stotts knew what he was getting into and no way he'd abandon his post one week before the season starts. It's either a personal/family reason or an AG-related reason.

It could simply have been a wide gap in philosophy (offense, defense, who knows) that Stotts or both men just realized wasn't going to work. Sometimes things happen - I left a job after four months because I found out the way things worked were very different than what I was told/had envisioned during the interview process. Better to cut my losses than let any possible conflict grow.

Yeah, I'm not saying this is disastrous, but doesn't that say a lot about management you interviewed with and their hiring process? Like this was AGs first big as HC and he lost his lead assistant after a couple months. Better to cut your losses now, but it was definitely a loss and a failure in building his staff.

Oh, for sure. The CEO of my small consulting firm was a tyrant, a liar, and a scammer.

I don't think any of us have heard anything about Stotts, Griffin, or anyone else on the coaching staff that would indicate that any of them are like that. I'm going to assume it was more of a coaching philosophy issue than "that guy is a prick" issue. In my case, it was "that guy is one of the worst people I've ever met" issue.

Yes it is not good.

The board may remember that I mentioned about my perception of the “body language “ of Dame recently and had expressed disquietness about it.

Now I feel Dame knew that a Stotts leaving was about to happen.

I don't see anyway to spin this as not a big deal. Just a really bad look for Griffin right out of the gate. Do we have an offense?

Was going to ask you boys what happened with Stotts but seems to be a surprise to everyone.

Great guy, solid offensive coach and relationship with Lillard.

Too bad and rotten timing.

I was hoping and expecting this to be one of the first replies. You did not disappoint. Jroy have it all.

If it's a clash of personality, that sucks because how bad can it possibly be this early? Especially to step away from coaching Dame Lillard and Giannis and have a shot at a ring.

If it's a difference in philosophy that's almost worse, because I trust Stotts offensive philosophies more than Griffin's.

This seems really really bad. I have had major doubts and bad vibes about AG from the beginning and this certainly doesn’t help that.

I guess a good poll would be if you could restart the hiring process knowing you had Dame, do you go Storrs or AG?

I was ok with AG since it was to keep Giannis happy. But if we were brining on Dame, give me Stotts and let the winning take care of itself.

Stotts was supposed to be the steady hand if Griffin was in a little over his head and also the guy I trusted to implement an actual offensive system. Bad bad vibes to have this happen a week before the regular season.

If it is as simple as "I like to run a different offense than AG and feel we would contradict each other while telling players what to do" They need to put him in front of a mic and thank him for his time making it was very clear it was mutual. Otherwise, it just seems like they are deeper issues and not 100% professional.

If Griffen is a good coach this is a nothing burger...but if the packaged deal is what got him the gig...that is concerning to say the least. Maybe Stotts didn't want to be an assistant again after be a HC?

Or a GA-related reason.

Or if this morning we saw, AG steps down, Stotts head coach. Would we be more optimistic?

There are simply too many possibilities at this point. MTC I guess.
