I was ok with AG since it was to keep Giannis happy. But if we were brining on Dame, give me Stotts and let the winning take care of itself.

Or if this morning we saw, AG steps down, Stotts head coach. Would we be more optimistic?

Between his track record and relationship with Dame....probably.

I mean that's something Stotts/Griffin should've had completely hashed out before he took the assistant job.

Yeah, I agree. I'm on "this is all bad news" bandwagon. We have 2 top 15 players, so I'm not down on the season but I think it fair to freak out a little.

We just gave keys to a Ferrari to a 16 year old and he just disabled the GPS. It goings to a wild ride.

Feel pretty strongly that we shouldn't be jumping to any conclusions w/r/t what this means *about* any Bucks or Stotts. Not saying that speculation isn't fair game, just, like, I suggest not digging in.

It's unequivocally bad news, regardless. Hard to say to what degree.

I always wondered if Stotts was forced upon AG by the front office knowing that they wanted a veteran head coach.

If true I'd say this puts Griffin on the hot seat, your lead assistant and one of the most tenured coaches in the league quits a week before the season over "differences" is a MAJOR red flag as a first time head coach. The Bucks are here to win a championship not hand out coaching opportunities for guys to learn on the job or flex their ego, there's a bit of a Jason Kidd ex-player coach vibe I'm starting to get.

To be fair Griffin has been an assistant for 15 years. He's well tenured.

I’d prefer that option 100%.

Hell of a way for Griffin to put even more pressure on himself heading into the season if the friction stuff turns out to be true. Team was already championship or bust, but if they don't win it this season then I'd argue that he might/should be a one-and-done coach. You have a two, maybe three year window with this core (Dame/Giannis/Khris/Brook) and you can't waste any of it with a coach who's in over his head.

I agree that this is bad news, but I think we all need to relax and let some facts come out. In my opinion Edens and Horst deserve the benefit of the doubt that they didn't just go through a massive hiring process to hire Griffin and he's some clueless jagoff that just forced Stotts out.

No beat writers were on this, no leaks, straight from WOJ. Interesting.

We may never know but it certainly could explain a lot if this were the case.

Losing Stotts is huge, we went from being a defensive juggernaut to more of an offensive one and lost our offensive mastermind.

Good luck getting another lead assistant that’s gonna work out with AG if Stotts couldn’t, apparently it’ll have to be someone with less coaching experience than him

Why are people assuming Griffin is the bad guy here?

Also great that the seasons less than 2 weeks out, guys were learning Stotts system and now will have to likely switch a lot of stuff up

Is coach Bud available?

We just hired Stotts to recruit Dame, now that we have Dame Stotts is not needed.
