Queta had a really good game last night. He has been pretty good overall during the preseason. Keep it up!

Re: Welcome to Boston, Quetsy! – (Neemias Queta)
Another reason I like Queta.. Each center we have brings a different type of skillset/dimension to the team. Queta is very Rob Williams lite and while he may never reach Rob's level (when he was healthy) it certainly helps when certain matchups are called for.
Also the other 2 Bigs in Al and KP will be outside a lot and not in position to O-Rebound. Queta seems like he attacks the offensive glass well.. and certainly better than Kornet in that regard.

I was in the camp of keep him on a 2-way and keep Wenyen but realize a discussion may have to happen later. Queta would have played more than most 2-ways, but now that they waived Gabriel (which I don’t really get) I think we convert Queta now.
No clue who fills what could be two 2-way spots though.

Wenyen may have asked to be released after noticing he wasn't getting minutes even in preseason. He's a fairly high-profile fringe player just because he played pretty well for the Lakers and was on TV all the time with them. So maybe he wants to find a team that will put him in the game.

There is a potential financial benefit to leaving Queta right where he is on the 2-way and just playing him in his 50 games or whatever over converting him to a more costly 15th spot. Plus, you get to leave that 15th spot open if you need it now.

He definitely went Old Testament on the Hornets last game (I know wrong spelling). Collecting bricks like he was trying to rebuild Jerusalem and also set up a nice wall with those picks!

Yep for sure. He’s arguably earned a roster spot but no reason it has to be now. He’s not going anywhere and we have pretty much the entire year to figure it out.

Who would be interested this late in the off-season that wouldn’t have been interested 2 weeks ago when he signed with us? Seems like most teams are trimming rosters not adding guys. I hope he does catch on somewhere and develops though. I still maintain he can be a good bench energy big and was originally on my binky short list. I feel like Brad should like a Tweet of his at least as a consolation prize.

Fair point..which is why I think his best bet might be to sign on with a team overseas. Put up some big numbers and then try to make it back into the league next season..
Unless some NBA team's backup big man got hurt during preseason and that could open up a spot for him?

I think he would be with us if he had been with the team all offseason. Probably had trouble remembering the plays and no time to gel with the adults in the room.
I think i remember Lamar mentioning trying to learn the plays or something about being a visual learner. That may be why he’s further down the depth chart too.

Vonleh and Kabengele are cautionary tales as why they shouldn't rush this. There is plenty of time to see Queta play in games that count in his actual role. Also 30-40 games in not only can we see what Queta can do, but we also can see who might shake out to use the Grant trade exception for.
I'm all in favor of letting him play over Kornet to see what he can do and we should use some or all of the 50 games to do this.

I agree with all of this, but one other take on the situation could be that if you feel like Queta has reached the point where he's really going to 'pop', you might want to go all in on him now to win favor with him and his agent. The Celtics are going to be pinching pennies to fill out the rotation for the indefinite future, so maybe you try to get him on a Hauser-like deal now so that you're not looking for someone else to fill his spot for the vet min next season.
Of course, a 'Hauser-like' deal -- arguably one of the best values in the league -- is also a 'Demetrius Jackson-like' deal, which ... this is it, right? The last season of paying off?

Anyway, just fodder for thought. If you like Queta, show him the organizational love so that you might retain him for longer because once he starts cramming on people on national TV people are going to be drooling.

He looks ready for a cry-off vs. Joel Embiid.
If he can cut back on the fouls, he could be our next Embiid stopper. He's certainly big enough and quick enough and strong enough. Even now, he's a big body to push around Embiid and tire him out.
Now if Embiid would just stop getting in such good shape during the season and stop getting stronger as the games go longer, we might have a chance.

You could. But I think it's prudent to wait. You can still do convert him later IF he shows productivity during the season. No need to invest bigger money that will cost more until we know that's who we want. That's what these 2-ways are for. For developing guys. That's what we did with Kornet. That's what we did with Hauser. Nothing wrong with letting him earn it.
