It's very possible Darko hadn't actually talked to the medical staff yet and had no clue at that point. That was a clear roll and if it's a foot sprain, that's going to be weeks most likely.

As for Barnes' game. I'm as intrigued as everyone else who has been defending him over the last couple of years but the last thing you want to do is set extremely high expectations and then whine if he doesn't reach them. Just let him grow. He has always shown he knows how to adjust and get better. His follow through on his jumper looks night and day different from last year. He has really worked hard on it.

Also when you watch the highs of Barnes compared to his draft peers, you can see why some of us think he has the highest impact potential. There's levels to this. A guy Barnes' size dominating shifts the entire floor. Others who are great shooters but don't have big impacts in other ways don't have that type of effect on the game. I'll take Barnes having major impact like he has shown in preseason over a guy who's a sniper any day. This is why Masai chases guys with size.

Let's all hope he continues to grow. His path will be different from others since he's trying to have his finesse skills catch up to his brain and body size. He's more on the Leonard, Giannis, Butler, James path in terms of progression as those guys had their shooting touch catch up last. Giannis is still working on that.

He doesn't even make contact with Precious from what I can see. The ankle roll is clear as day though.

Yup yup you’re right. I mean the ankle roll is clear for sure. From the other angle it looked like Barnes coulda gone knee on knee after he turned his ankle. But from this angle it looks like just the ankle roll.

Yeah I saw the same angle as you HiJinX. This angle changes things. Looks like an ankle roll. Hopefully he's good for opening night.

Excited for Scottie’s ALL-NBA season with averages of 25/8/6 on good efficiency. After watching him against the Cairns Taipans I have concluded it is his team now.

Gonna be a tough season for u if Scottie is awesome

I hope he is awesome. I had huge expectations last year and have even bigger expectations this year.

This game sealed the deal, forget the competition being the Wiz, but the way he is playing is like a completely different player from last year. When he went off the court in the 2nd, the offense looked HORRIBLE. Dude is playing like the clear best player on the team right now.

Siakam is by no means a bad player and that's not at all what I was suggesting. But if you look at the way Scottie is approaching the game, the way the offense absolutely went to **** when Siakam was the focal point, the fact that he's 22 etc. I have no idea how anyone could think that Siakam is the future of this team.

I didn't say fire Siakam into the sun and never look back, I said it's time to pass the torch.

Dude does nothing but defend FVV and Siakam at every turn, it's gonna be a rough few years for him.

What he/she does is live in the moment. So all comments are based on what he/she thinks is the best way to win today, and has zero thought for future and what the ultimate goal is. It's just a different approach.

Also, excel files don't really help with future projections unless you have something extremely intensive built though modeling. A team like the Raptors would invest a ton in that and someone sitting at home wouldn't be able to pull that through a 15 min stats pull at the most basic level like most do here. That's why you have to watch the games and see things from something outside of one lens to understand the ultimate goal and how progress looks.

We're already seeing a complete 180 from some of the takes from a few months ago

I would love to see the insane takes if we had drafted Giannis way back, probably would be calling to trade him for Melo or something in his second year lol

I think Scottie at Center is too quick on offence, getting to tip ins, put backs and tap outs with ease. He is more likely to get his feet set for 3s if a C is guarding him too. He's a menace coming over to help in the paint and recovers back to his man so well.

He is going to make a great point guard some day.

However, he is already our best center. Center is my favorite position. Barnes is excelling at so many of the little things I love to see at that position and he is reminding me of a mini-Joker.

After this preseason, I think the team should seriously make Scottie the starting center and playing Jak off the bench.

That gives us room for another shooter like Gary, Dick or Otto in the starting unit.

I wonder when we can trade Jak and what we could get for him on his new contract? Could we get a spacing PG or C?

The biggest thing(s) to me is just the sheer force he has been playing with as well as a significantly improved form on his three-point shot. If he (and Siakam) can hit ~35% of threes on ~4 attempts per game, it would go a long way to improving our spacing. Teams will have to start respecting him more which would completely open up other space too.

His approach has completely changed. He's not easing himself in the game, he's playing with force through with no slow down. The progress he's made on his 3 point shooting and how he's getting them has been impressive. As you said if he and Pascal can get to league average from 3 it opens up the whole offense.

I disagree for a bunch of reasons, but mainly that playing Scottie up a position will just wear him out over the course of the year.

We went through this for two seasons. The lesson we learned was that you can't play small ball for a full year.

If Jak is hurt, play Precious. If Precious sucks, play Koloko (if available). Darko will want to play Boucher too, and we can always finish small in certain match ups. But No to Scottie at C imo as any kind of regular thing.

I can't believe how much smoother his three looks. Getting excited for Year 3 Barnes.

I said almost the same thing. If Barnes can hit 33% and Siakam 35%, then this team becomes a real problem for opponents.

They call him Scottie "Giannis "Stephen Curry" Antetokounmpo" Barnes.

You could immediately tell his FT looked better. Which usually translates well to the rest of the shot.

Siakam enters superstar territory when he's hitting 3s....we've seen glimpses of it in a couple seasons.

Preseason hot takes. Gotta love it.

All i care about is the energy, defense, handles somewhat, even the shot looks better. Great.

Need to see this in the regular season. More of this consistently and everyone is happy.

Pretty much this. Good to see him looking good; hope it translates. Hope he's healthy. We need him to be good if we have any prayer of having an interesting season.
