It’s another one of those Brad Stevens specials where he signs a player who played well against the Celtics once.

This was Knight’s first NBA career start:

The guy in that highlight video is exactly what I have wanted on our bench for years. I know nothing else about him but I like having an athletic power forward longer than Grant who can finish at rim and hit a few 3s in development.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

These players are most valuable as practice players and what is better than getting ones that your players had difficulties with.

Reposted from Celtics Season Thread.

I think that the Celtics are going to wait until after the Season Opener, to Officially Waive Jay Scrubb.
That way he can get paid half his Two-Way Salary. Assuming they added that to his Contract, per CBA 2023.

Solid pickup. My only qualm is that he's 26 and that's pretty old for a 2-way player. Typically 2-way guys are younger, so you develop them, they have some upside to possibly develop into a decent contributor down the road.

At age 26, not sure how much development/upside is left. But it seems like Brad likes taking fliers on 25/26 year old guys to compete for end of bench spots (Svi, Lamar, Brissett, Gabriel, etc.). Maybe they like that he won't require much development or hand holding. More of a plug and play guy who can play in Maine and (since he's more polished and further in his development) could fill in here and there and maybe give us some minutes in Boston if need be. So possibly some emergency depth at the PF/C spots..

Knight has the body to play PF more so than Stevens or Brissett. Not at all saying he is a better player, but just the size to be a better Grant replacement, more than Stevens or Brissett. He is more athletic than Grant every was and can certainly dunk the ball. The 26-year-old theme Brad is sticking too, and a good place to put him is on a 2-way slot. I have my concerns about JD Davison, but I could see Queta and now Knight being in the groomed to be one of our bench guys at some point. (Queta right now IMO)

Not very familiar with him but Nathan Knight sounds like the alter-ego of a superhero so that's pretty cool.

Knight is 253 lbs and has a 7'2" wingspan. He's probably more like a C in terms of size - especially with the league trending towards smaller/quicker lineups.

He could possibly play either the 4 or the 5 - good to have that kind of versatility.

Nathan Knight played 67% of his minutes at the 5 last year (and 33% at the 4) so he defintely projects as more of a small ball 5. Obviously tough to carve out any minutes at center on a Minnesota team with Gobert, Towns and Reid so it's hard to hold his lack of playing time against him. I guess we'll see soon enough if he can actually play.
