FWIW, and I laughed at it (Nate Duncan also was taken aback), in Dunc'd On episode on extentions, the guy in who played Nico offered 110/5
Defense wins draft lotteries!

Seems fair. Personally, im not a huge JG fan, but 14 a year is a manageable contract for what he brings to the table.
This is better than Thybulle for 33/3.
Debatable.

Slight overpay, but this team never seems to get things right

Okongwu just extended in ATL. Would assume they would be more willing to listen to Capela offers? Here's hoping it revives the Siakam 3 way with Capela potentially coming here.

Considering this is coming from the biggest JG hater of all time. If 3 more years and 40 million isn’t the end of the world to him then it’s a pretty good deal.

Re: Dallas Mavericks 2023 offseason thread
Another year of improvement from Josh would make this deal look like a steal. Starters for back up money is always pretty solid. Especially with the salary cap about to shoot up.

Green being better than Cole is arguable. Only 2 mil diff total, but both are more 10-11 mil a yea guys. This Josh is or can be an elite role player is just false hope

Re: Dallas Mavericks 2023 offseason thread
Josh doesn't need to be an elite role player to live up to this contract. It's basically the same as the projected MLE next year. MLE money is often reserved for guys that are your 5th-8th best players. DDV is a good comp to me for example. He got the full MLE money this summer and is the 8th man. I think Josh can at least be that especially since those 2 guys have a lot of similarities in their games.

With the Rangers going to the World Series, I predict another trashy season for the Mavericks and they will finally get rid of Kidd before the end of the season.

Yeah I don't think people realize how fast the MLE and cap are going upMaverick41 wrote:Josh doesn't need to be an elite role player to live up to this contract. MLE was like 10.5 last year, 12.5mil this year, 14.5mil next year where it seemed like it was around 8-9mil for 5 or so years.

Just like the salary cap... So the second scary apron who will ever more high. I told you guys.
Nobody is scared for new CBA
Grant at 12M and Josh at 14 are good numbers... We need another PF paid same numbers (a younger and not washed Maxi Kleber).
And then the C spot...

Re: Dallas Mavericks 2023 offseason thread
The consequences of the cap rules haven't started hitting teams that aren't contenders, but have spent big. The Hawks dumped Collins for virtually nothing and will still need to shed more and the Timberwolves have about 155 million wrapped up into 4 guys for next year. The moment McDaniels signed that deal everyone was asking where is KAT going.41Dirk41 wrote:ejs78 wrote:Yeah I don't think people realize how fast the MLE and cap are going upMaverick41 wrote:Josh doesn't need to be an elite role player to live up to this contract. Is there a correlation between the Rangers’ playoff performance and the Mavs’ regular season?
This definitely feels like a make or break season for Kidd. It’s one of my prediction questions in my fun survey (see link in my signature, shameless plug I know).

Collins was out of the team project from 2 years and with 0 market value, they had to dump him.
So every team signed big contracts... Again.
Teams works in prospec not year by year, the new scary CBA is just an excuse for cheap owner or naive posters. This is the NBA.

Regardless of how long the Hawks were trying to trade him the team had orders to get under the luxury tax and will still be looking to move more salary with the contracts they are handing out. How many teams are currently over the 2nd tax apron.... I love how you call me a naive poster when you purposely misquote Stein about DJJ starting so it can fit a narrative of yours to crap on the team for no reason. Great work once again

Excellent comparison of 2 topics with completely different specific weight... bad sign
we'll see you again at the next FA to see what other excuses you'll find

You defended Bullock like no other and you thought he was fine at 10M but you hate a better player in Green with a passion at 13M and 9 years younger? Makes no sense to me

Good job at answering how many teams are over the 2nd apron and guess bringing in the DJJ starting was over your head...which happens alot
