Feel sorry for Klay. His mind thinks he still has it. But his body just says otherwise.

Facts/stats don't line up with many peoples opinion here.

Warriors line up had best nrtg for unit that played over 200 min together.

Klay stats line up with career average.

Are people really claiming Klay is done after watching a preseason without Draymond? C'mon, you guys are better than that. Aren't we supposed to be the smartest fan base?

Klay is fine if he doesn’t try to be point guard Klay. It has never been his game and why try now?

He looked old and slow out there, has no lift on his jumpshots, he's been saying he's been working out, scrimmaging all summer and he looks like this?........ I'm concerned, he looks more of the same from that Lakers series last year!

He's slowed down but he's still got that strong base. As long as he can run off screens, receive that perfect pass in the pocket from Draymond, square up and fire off shots with that lightning quick release, he'll be a dangerous scorer. His game is made to age well.

What he can't do is defend the other team's lead guard anymore because he doesn't have the lateral quickness he once had. Where that could become a problem is if he ends up off ball all the time and regularly loses contact with his man on backdoor cuts and relocations.

So yeah, on defense he has to tighten his focus up and maybe he won't be able to make the adjustment. But on offense, he'll be fine.

As long as Klay's rep holds up, he holds some value... taking a defender on his hip and causing defensive movement when he's running around will never show in the boxscore, but has been a huge part of our offense for a long time. If teams are more daring Klay to shoot this year and he doesnt make them pay.. well then what does he do?

Everything about this thread smacks of insolence and ennui. This thread was started a month into last season. Klay went on to hit 300+ threes at a 41% clip. Nobody other than Steph has ever in the history of the game accomplished the feat. Is Klay done? Really?

However when Harden did it, it was due to the ammount of threes he was allowed to put up his efficiency was atrocious!

He just won’t stop shooting when he’s ice cold and he’s terrible off the bounce but still tries drive on fools, so he’s not cooked he’s just stubborn. He’ll probably never accept he’s just a spot up shooter now. Moody is a better player than him at this point but will probably get way less minutes.

Exactly. 37 points in a quarter with 2 or 3 dribbles wasn't it ? .

Don't dribble Klay, the team has enough PGs.

Klay has hit the Melo phase where the rest of his career will depend entirely on his ego. If he takes a backseat and focuses on being a good vet/mentoring Moody he can have a productive, Ray Allen-style retirement.

If he's gonna force the issue and try and balloon himself he'll burn himself out here and won't see another contract. Hopefully he's self aware enough to accept the transition to bench super-sniper

100% this

Until Klay accepts he’s Portland Melo and not Denver Melo he’ll be a detriment to this team

Klay actually reigned it in the last couple of pre-season games where he didn't shoot everytime he touched the ball and was actually passing. We just need to remove any need of him dribbling or creating his own shot. He's bound to hit shots at some point right, just have to hope Kerr plays the hot hand in the playoffs.
Most 4th Quarter Points in Final since 1991

2015 Stephen Curry 10.8 (75.1% TS)
1997 Michael Jordan 10.7 (55.1% TS)
1998 Michael Jordan 10.6 (50.6% TS)

So we have to wait for May Moses Moody, at least, it's good alliteration. :banghead:

Old NBA players even without injuries often suddenly turn into pumpkins.

Some guys slowly get a bit worse every year.
Other guys suddenly hit the wall as if they age 3 years in one year.

I would have to verify my memory but I think Klay was usually a slow starter who would shoot better in the 2nd half of seasons. So a bad 1st half season does not mean Klay won’t be a stone cold assassin in the playoffs. I am more disturbed by Klay failing in the playoffs vs the Lakers last season than by Klay not playing well now.
